I heard that was true, but I'm not sure. I want to hear the opinions of people outside of North America.

I am italian and I live in Rome. I live in good fellowship with many persons, some believers, some not, but all, if asked are covinced of the evolution theory.

As a matter of factI got knowledge of the existence of ''dyed in the wool'' creationists only some years ago reading Scientific American and the debates that sometime appear in that magazine. About five years ago I got a Internet connection, and in browsing variuos matters I was struck ol all the noise that is made in the USA about creationism and evolution. For me and all the people I know evolution is an established fact like the fact that the Earth is not flat.....

The same is for my German and French friends...

I personally am a non-believer . Hovwever all the noise that you in the U.S. make about bible leaves me ''shocked'' (I do not know the exact English term for ''esterrefatto'').

The fact that in some states of the U.S. is prohibited in science classes to teach evolution appears to me totally absurd.

The person who has placed the question can remain assured
that apart some bigot, practically all italians do not doubt the
facts about evolution.

I'm not a Christian, I live in Holland.

The first time I heard about Intelligent Design, was on this website. They teach Evolution in our schools as the only valid scientific theory. Creationism isn't even an option, and I have never heard a Christian complain about that in Holland.

So, I'm pretty sure most Dutch Christians see Evolution as it is, a scientific theory, based on a long range of facts.

Btw, Iceland seems to be the world leader. 88% of the population knows enough about evolution to value it as true.

There are so many different types of Christians. They may as well break off entirely in to their own religion and become the true Protestant, the True Jehovah's witness, the true Anglican....... If one group of Christianity claims that they are the true Christians, other groups will disagree. EDIT: Truth, my Grand uncle is a Republican and he voted for Obama because he thought that the Republicans ruined the country completely over the course of eight years. This is how Christianity split up, someone likes the old ways but thinks that they should be slightly different.

If that is true then it could only be because of what people are taught or what influences their belief system. The fact is, that if Christians everywhere do not seek God's word and truth through the bible and prayer, they will be subject to the influenced of and accept something that isn't God's truth (infallible, perfect, and pure) at all. A good example would be how some cultures have intermixed their pagan rituals with Christian doctrine such as the one that mixes voodoo with Christianity (I can't remember the name of it). But these people are deceived because they value their traditions on the same level as Christian doctrine (the bible). In the same way a Christian who has somehow been influenced to believe that humans evolved from apes and not that we were "fearfully and wonderfully made; created in God's image", they are deceived and need lots of study in the Word of God and the prayers of Christians everywhere.

I believe it is mostly in America, and even here mostly fundamentalists without much education.

I am sensing from responses that some believe that you can’t accept evolution and also be a faithful servant of Christ.

I think that Christians like myself, who appreciate science, have a heightened appreciation for the true greatness of God. Knowing as much as I know about science gives me tremendous awe of the power of God. To accept God as Creator and to accept what is known about the universe, means looking at God with true awe and wonder.

Don't believe everything you hear, you need to travel outside of America or research some of these countries for yourself on the web. You would be surprised to know allot of these Christians outside the U.S. are more dedicated and stronger in their beliefs, even to the point of dying for it.

Of course, it is well documented and is why many people in Europe and elsewhere have a low opinion of the USA. Honestly at base it has more of an effect on world opinion than the politics of GW Bush.
