I'm really not sure of a way to do it yourself. But, I had to get a ring cut off after I got stung by a bee and my finger swelled up. My dad ended up taking me to a firestation (weird place to go, right?) Actually, they were able to cut it off really fast without me feeling anything :) Not sure what they used or if it's something you can find at the hardware store, but I suggest stopping by and seeing if there's anything they can do for you. It's at least worth a shot.
Good luck!

Ring cutting is achieved by using a vibrating saw. The saw does not revolve, just vibrates.
This tool is used to remove plaster cast from limbs without cutting the skin. Most hospitals have them and they can also be used for removal of jewellery on damaged fingers and toes etc. Some jewellers have them also, so you could try either a manufacturing jeweller or the local hospital.

Yeah go to the ER and have it done. They have tools meant to cut hard objects that won't even leave a scratch on your skin.
Before doing that you could always try using soap and water and really soap up your hand and try to get it off that way. Or Crisco. Or butter. Basically anything that will make it slide.
Cutting it off on your own though will probably result in a trip to the emergency room to reattach your finger.

no need to cut it off. Take a piece of string and wrapped it around your finger on both sides of the ring then tuck the end of it under the end where you Left off then pull the string in the beginning slowly and it will come right off with no problem.

JAMES,
OUT OF ALL THE SUGGESTIONS THE THING TO DO IS GET THE RING OFF W/O DAMAGING YOUR FINGER OR THE RING.
THE SAFEST WAY IS VEGETABLE OIL, IF THIS FAILS VISIT THE E.R. OR A JEWELER. DO NOT TRY T CUT IT OFF YOURSELF YOU MAY CUT YOURSELF AND/OR BURN YOUR FINGER.

Cut? Dip your hand in vegetable oil. It will come off. Also make sure your hand is cold.
