My wife and I are interested in buying a couple of mountan bikes. We have looked around and like a couple of the Diamond Back designs. Is Diamond Back a good brand? Any information would be helpful. Thank you.

diamondback is one of those tried and true brands. depending on how much you want to spend on a bike. you can get a cheap hardtail for around $300 or a performance off road rig for $3500. they use decent parts in bikes over $400. i wouldnt spend less then that on any bike. try the Coil EX 05'. its $500 and has some pretty sweet hook ups.

it would be sick if you both had the same bike with matching outfits. thats a sure way to get people's attention. lol, or just get the same bikes.

another brand you should consider is Ironhorse. i think out of all brands of bikes, they offer the best bang for the buck. their lower line is still good quality. they have a hardtail for $300 ( i think) but its a good deal. go to their site and click Bikes> trail and check those out. their new 2007 lineup looks wicked to say the least.

I have this rather obsolete and simple Diamond Back hardtail 'Outlook' rigid ( though I won an old school front suspension RST from EBAY and is still with my cousin in New York who can't shipped it YET cuz he's damn BUSY! ) Anyway---DBs are TOUGH! They ROCK!!! They have great old school geometry, and with their 'extinct' situation, most riders had moved on to MORE RIGID types ( i.e. single speed killers, 29ers like Haro Mary,Gary Fisher,etc.)----Diamond Backs may well made history with great bikes but disappearing from the market of hardtails is a sign to look for existing good underdogs----Commencal, Salsa, Felt, etc.

i used to work in a bike shop and it depends on what sort of price range that you are looking at on weather dimondback are your best choice but from previous experiece i know that claud butler are rather good for the price that they are and it would be worth looking at what one's are available in the same price range and compare spec's you may be supprised at what you can get for your money and also if you go to a local dealer i am sure that you could get a deal on buying 2 bikes at the same time
