The CD player was working fine until a couple of days ago when
it started "jumping" on one track, and then ceased playing.
When I insert a CD, any CD, it does not read it.

these devices can only be factory fixed... and yours is part of you car warranty. so my advice is bring it back to the car dealer

dont take it to a car dealer to expensive i would just go buy a new one you can find quite a few nice am/fm cd player for a really good price now days. but you can also get a cd lens cleaner like the one guy said that usally works.

If it's been well used, you might try buying and using one of the many products that clean CD players and see if that helps.

this is a laser divice and you can not fix it your self so do not try..
get a new radio cd player and install it....
