Hey, Smudge: the inscription didn't say anything about ALL the huddled masses, poor etc. We take people just as we always have. We just don't take them until we have a handle on them and who they are. We are in a War. We have been terrorized and it is high time, America starts carefully looking at who we let in to our country.
Would you change your mind, if a terrorist who came across the border illegally blew up and killed your family?
When or what would it take to get you to see this is a real problem that very likely will end many Americans lives. It's just a matter of time ...and that's if we do the job properly.
Otherwise, we are going to be history.
I actually met a Bimbo the other day, who can hardly pay his rent and he's over 50, who thinks we should let in ANYONE who wants to come here. Are you that kind too?
Put yourself in danger but don't put me and mine there too.

YES, it is. Great metaphor. As we can see through unemployment rates, there are a limited number of jobs in this country. Yes, we're creating more each day, at the same time that companies are downsizing and outsourcing. There is also a limited amount of $$ that can (okay, should, cause we're already way past the can #) be spent on medicaid, food stamps, welfare, and subsidized housing, not to mention public education. Yet the more illegals that come in, the more of those funds are being spent. Yes, most illegals work. OFF THE BOOKS. Which means they are putting nothing back INTO the system. Instead, they're sending $$ back to Mexico, strengthening their economy while draining ours.
And as for calling them undocumented, the new "PC" term? NO WAY. They crossed the border without documentation, without the OK of the US gov't. That is ILLEGAL, which makes them illegals. End of story. When they're picked up for whatever reason, send them back and fine the company that hired them. Cheaper to buy a bus ticket than it is to support them for the next 20+ years.

The term illegal implies a negative connotation and instead, undocumented worker should apply. After all, they are illegal employed and their employers could be legal citizens who gainfully benefited from the experience; we would be fining or prosecuting more than half of legal America for this advantage. We must remember that America was base on legal immigration, if not, illegal immigration give the native Americans' perspective of the pilgrims. The mayflower carried 10's or 100's of people from the old to the new world in search of better opportunity. We celebrate this illegal immigration to this date.
The term lifeboat also implies that some folks will live while others may not. Those who can make it to the lifeboat will be saved from death.
If the ship is not sinking or is in good shape there is no need for a lifeboat. Good economic policies with our neighbors to the south could offer opportunities in their own home and keep them from jumping ship.

That is correct. With the influx of illegal immigrants from Mexico comes the influx of Mexico's economy. The truth of the matter is this: Illegal aliens come for economic reasons, Mexico has a poor economy, and the U.S. has a good one. What is going to happen is that so many people will be here, that the economy of Mexico and the economy of the U.S. will equalize. So, the lifeboat that is the United States will sink to 2nd world status.

This country has been invaded and we just can't see it. We all have to learn Spanish today because Mexico says so.
