It sounds like you're having serious anxiety problems. Has your life gotten more stressful in some way? Has something changed? Or it might be that things have gradually built up to a point that is just too much for your mind, body and spirit, and they're using these feelings to warn you that THIS IS IT. If that's the case, I'd predict full-blown panic attacks next :-(
Do you see anyone for OCD treatment? If not now, did you in the past? Please contact your current or former therapist about the anxiety. Sharing the burden will help. Be careful about saying anything that will land you in the hospital (if you don't want to go there) while stressing that you NEED to see your therapist NOW.)
Also, talk to your support network. Boyfriend, friends, family, roommates, neighbors, teachers, co-workers - whoever you're around and can talk and ask for a little extra care right now. Of course, how much they know will vary :-) But if you're normally pretty with-it, they shuold be cool about cutting you some slack right now.
Do all that you can to reduce the stress in your life. Avoid people who tend to generate drama, even if they might be fun sometimes. Excuse yourself from some parties to get more rest. Seriously - rest, the real thing, is extra important at the moment. Get some serious pampering time in. I'll leave the exact type of pampering up to you, as pampering preferences are highly variable.
Take care of yourself, and good luck!

It COULD be OCD, or anxiety disorder, or neither one.
I have this one friend who has OCD and I don't think she has been diagnosed with it yet. She calls me like nine times a day, she cleans obsessively, and she has problems with money. Or you could just be worried and stressed out and need to take a break from it. I remember reading an article about OCD, and if you start to worry about something, picture a STOP sign in your mind, then change your thought pattern to something more positive. It may help. Also, don't stay at home too much, go out and have fun, volunteer, etc. Good luck!

schizophrenia is when you are unable to determine the difference between reality and fantasy. paranoia is often a part of schizophrenia, but not always. paranoid delusions are just that - paranoid delusions. they are ideas that are unfounded and/or untrue that are based on paranoia. these do not necessarily constitute mental illness, however, they can be a part of another mental illness. ocd or obsessive compulsive disorder is a condition in which the sufferer has obsessions which drive them to compulsions (i.e. they have all-consuming thoughts that FORCE them to undertake certain actions.) e.g. the classic case is germphobia - an OBSESSION with germs and cleanliness leads to a COMPULSION to clean things/wash hands repeatedly etc. this disorder CAN have paranoia associated with it, but not necessarily. e.g. germphobia is paranoia about germs. however, an obsession with touching the top of doors etc. is not essentially about paranoia, it is just an obsession (although in some instances the person may be paranoid that if they don't touch the top of the door something bad might happen... but that isn't always the case.) hope that's useful :)

Paranoia is a severe side effect of OCD. Yes, it can, when left unchecked, become crippling! Be careful with yourself...
It is wonderful that you have the presence of mind to recognize that it is indeed paranoia and not you... rather than allowing yourself to go off on some tangent. You have things somewhat in perspective. That is good!
I have had OCD most of my life and it can be both; Horrible, and it can aid you in your daily rituals and keep you on the straight and narrow if you make use of it, rather than allowing it to make mincemeat of you.
Remember it is your brain... YOU are in control! Feelings almost always lie and your intellect will always help you to rationalize and make sense of the things that get away from you if you take the time to step back and take a breath and think. Don't get caught up in the moment.
It would be best if you went to speak with someone... Try a therapist rather than a pez dispenser medication pusher psychotherapist... You just need someone to talk to that understands... Thats all!
What I do to help me when I get obsessive thoughts is I catagorize them... I intentionally sit and kind of journal... I sort and filter these experiences through what I have called my "Common sense meter." Basically I ask myself "Does this really make sense and does it really effect me, how much? Ect...
Sitting down and taking the time to really scruitinze your thought process helps you afford yourself the time and space you need to effectively look at a situation and gage it, meter it and catagorize it, until it is worked down into the nothing that it really is. Im certain that your own personal history with these thoughts will show you how they are almost always bigger than they are all on theor own. Obsession fuels them, often right out of perspective and porportion!
I came up with my own system... I suggest you come up with your own as well... like numbering it from 1 to 10 like on a scale. Mine are colored, as I am Synesthetic so that makes sense to me and might not help you? You can use word play, colors, numbers whatever... Try it, it does help! I write poetry too...
Good luck sweetie! Know that someone out there understands!

It may be possible that your disorder has reached the point where it is no longer managable on your own. You need to seek therapy, and if your doctor sees fit, medication

I can't help you. You are stuck in the world of psychiatry. Making friends with a psychiatrist is like making friends with a cobra.
