Wait - it is typical that hair is a little darker immediately after coloring -- especially during winter months when the heaters are on -- hair is drier and therefore color may grab more. With washing hair will oxidize a bit and lighten. It's best not to try to correct this too much or you'll cause damage. If your hair is in good condition wash it daily for a week and see what happens.

You can wash your hair out with some regular household dish soap or a clarifying shampoo, put a plastic cap over it and let it sit for about 20 minutes. It should pull some of the excess out. If thats not light enough for you, you can always go back to the salon and get a heavy lowlight, a shade or two lighter than the color your at and that should brighten it up a little!!
Good Luck!!

Yuo'er going to give it a few day so that if you put more chemicals in it it's not going to hurt your hair. Then you should go back and tell them that it was just a little bit to dark and hat you want it faded just a little bit. Then if that doesn't work just repeat the process. Good Luck!!!

Volumizing shampoo. The outside layer of each hair (the cuticle) is made of several layers of tiny "scales" and volumizing shampoo opens those scales to puff the hair out, which also lets the color molecules that have been deposited inside each hair strand be washed out more easily. The sun (or a tanning bed) will fade your hair out as well.

depending on whether it's a rinse, semi or permanant
with a rinse and semi permanant just was it a few times using a double shampoo and then a deep condition.
if it's a permanant, most hairdressers will have a lightner or even a colour-stripper if you dojn't like it that much.
but also just for thought if is a semi or rinse then maybe they did it darker so that when you do wash it and a few weeks down the line it will be the colour that you wanted
best of luck

This happened to me a couple of months ago. I totally freaked out, but here's how I corrected it.
I took 4 oz. of cream developer, and put in high lift frosting bleach. I left it on for 10 minutes, rinsed well, applied conditioner for 15 minutes and it looked fine.
If you had it done in a salon however, go right back and have them fix it for free.
Good luck to you.
Also, Clairol has a toll free hotline you can call. It is 1-800-clairol.

If you used a semi-permanent color, frequent washing will help wash some of the color out. If it's permanent, you could consider buying an over the counter haircolor remover such as L'Oreal. Only leave it on for a few minutes to take some of the color away, and be sure to condition it afterwards.

How long ago did you get it dyed? It should fade a little bit naturally.

A temporary wash in and out rinse might help.
A little lighter be careful doing this or you can wind up looking like barneys mom or rainbow Britte!
