There is one Bible, translated into many denominations,
The Torah, The Quaran, Toa Te Ching, ...etc.
Is the belief in God, and a lifestyle to reflect it enough?
Or will God leave behind those who can not read properly?

...the point is, does it matter what book you read, or how you translate it?

Very strong opinions, ones to be respected by me. My question was misunderstood, by understandably brite people, which wholely was my point on translation.
never the less I was raised on the Bible myself, but do not discredit the teachings that are foreign to me. I find that some other beliefs parallel the Bible by virtue. After all the Bible was imported to the States, North America was primarily a spiritual contenant.
Think about this....What if , by design, you where born someone else, somewhere else?

All those Holly Books show us some " instructions " to follow in order to reach "The Promise Land " . This "instructions" consist into the moral rules , and the laws given to us by The Divinity . We have to know them , in order to live by His will . If we don`t read at least one of these books , we don`t know. Of course , we can vaguely hear about them from one or another , but it`s not the same thing . When you personally read the book ( and us , Christians , were given The Bible ) , you feel God is talking to you alone , and these laws were given to you , and you necessarily have to obey them . Later , by simply opening The Bible , you can receive comments and advises involving your behaviour , and not mankind`s. Your life could entirely change . You should feel God close to you , " by your right shoulder ", as told in a psalm . That`s what happened to me , and I must say that, following His personal advises to me , I fulfiled things I never dreamed at . Even if His advises came to contradict human`s advises , and society`s unwritten rules .
After this connection is established , you could also see the truth in your soul , but even then , The Bible stays always as a guide . Your soul could cheat on you sometimes , as being touched by angry , lust or desire , but The Bible , and another Holly Books , never !

Of course there are many religions that do not use or believe in the Bible in any translation. Nonetheless, I think the book and translation do matter. Different interpretations result in different behaviors and justifications for those behaviors. Many atrocities have occurred with the "faithful" firmly believing it to be God's will because it said so in their version of the book.

God is the perfect judge, because He has mercy. We are going to be judged by the amount of information we have available. Children belong to God.
Heb 11:6 says that everyone will find Hm when they seek Him.
I believe that the Bible is true. I believe that Jesus knocks on the door of your heart and since the knob is inside He knows who opens the door. He does not force anyone.

Hate to burst your bubble there, but all those books you mentioned are not just differing translations of the same book...they all are different books! What next, are you going to tell me that Hávamál is the same as the Christian bible?
By the way, I'm a polytheist and I worship many different Gods and Goddess, do not tell me that all Gods are one in the same, because they aren't.

Do you want to have an endless conversation comparing the Bible to other religious texts? I promise you, while we may not come to any other conclusion than to "agree to disagree", the Bible is the only one that will stand forever.

The Gospels are what's really important. They explain Jesus and his role as savior to us.
