He goes to the bathroom all the time and it stinks sooooo bad! We have tried different cat litter, air fresheners, and different foods, but we can't find a solution for him to have normal bathroom rutines.

Hi there...younger kittens who are very active will evacuate more often than an adult cat. Their feces will also tend to be much stronger as their bodies are trying to break down their meals they eat. If your kitten hasn't been dewormed this can contribute to the foul smelling odours as well.

Stinky poo is also caused by any of the commercially available cat food products such as Whiskas, Purina, Science Diet, IAMs sold in supermarkets and pet stores which contain corn, corn meal which ferment as it broken down within the digestive system leading to very stinky poo. Feeding human food as treats also can contribute to smelly poo as well. However, this also depends on the animal's genetics as well. Like humans, when two people eat the very same thing one person's business may stink to high heaven moreso than another (we can't compare our own poo since we'd obviously be biased.) I have two cats who's genetic makeup are quite different from one another (F1 Bengal --1/2 wild & 1/2 domestic -- and Abyssinian). They both eat the same identical high premium quality foods yet the Bengal's poo is so strong it would make a good substitute for chloroform, where the Aby's isn't so bad and is very tolerable.

Some of the high protein cat foods (which contains no corn based products or byproducts) found only at specialty pet stores such as Innova EVO, Life's Abundance, Nature's Variety Prairie may help minimize the stinky calling cards, but again it truly depends on the cat's genetic makeup. They are quite expensive compared to the supermarket and chain pet stores brands, but if your intended goal is to lower the overall gas chamber effect you may need to experiment which works best.

I don't know if it's possible to make your cat have a bathroom routine, I would think that if they gotta go, they gotta go. But on another note, do you make sure to scoop the poop and clumps everyday and toss them into a trashbag you throw out daily? For health and odor reasons alike, you probably shouldn't let old cat waste sit around too long in the cat pan and/or the indoor trashcan.

We invested in a great cat litterbox companion called the Litter Locker. it's from a company called petmate and it's a small/medium sized container with a lid that slightly resembles a diaper pail, and it works on the same idea.

Once the cat does it's business, you scoop the clumps and poop and toss it in the litter locker. At the end of the night you give the wheel on the side of the container a turn and the little trashbag inside will spin, locking the waste and odors inside. the plastic trashbag inside consists of a long thin plastic bag with no closed end. You make a knot in the the yourself and wrap in onto the hook in the Locker. then as you turn each night, the plastic bag rotates, wrapping the clumps and poop into a tight ball. when you go to toos it away in the trash, everything gets thrown away in one big neat ball.

I scoop the clumps and poop randomly during the day to keep odors at bay, but I do a thorough scooping before bed and then I give the Litter Locker a turn, locking all the odors away.

I also LOVE the cat litter from Nature's Miracle. It's made of corn cobs and natural pine essence so it stays fresh for a while and does a great job at clumping. Nature's miracle has a great line of odor evaporators. you should try the Just For Cat's formula, there is also a laundry detergent by this company that gets rid of various animal allergens and odors.

I'm sorry, I can't find an actual Nature's Miracle website to refer you to, but if you look up the name on search engines you'll be connected to all sorts of animal supply stores. :)

You might want to have your kitty checked by the vet for sometimes if the poo is that smelly it could be a medical problem.
I use the electronic litterbox and it automatically scoops after the cat has been in it. It goes into a closed container which really helps with the smell.

My cat had kittens and they had the same PROBLEM!!!!! it is really bad, I KNOW! well, just scoop it every day and put a air freshiner by the box, i had 3 cats that were that way! also try feeding it a different brand of food, and NO WET FOOD!!! if you gave it wet food it would have the runs.

He may have a bacterial infection in his intestines, possibly one called ghiardia, that REALLY makes the poop stink. It is not good for him to be going all the time, so you need to have your vet do a fecal culture (they are about $10) to see what is going on.

Go to Petco and buy Solid Gold Katz n Flocken. It is a dry food and will correct the odor issues.

It he is going all the time and it reeks, he might have enteritis (infection in the bowels) He could suffer from dehydration if not checked out. Best to go to a vet to get checked out.

Ah, you best take a little sample with you.

Good luck.

You should see the vet about the smelling bad part. It could be a gland problem. My friends cat had a glandular problem and he smelled sooo bad.
