I recently purchased a really attractive phone -- retro lines without looking self-consciously vintage -- with good sound and all the options we need. The problem lies in the ringer, the worst of the worst electronic tweets. So bad it makes us wince. At this point my only option is to turn off the ringer and keep our old model plugged in in another part of the apartment -- not ideal. Is it possible to purchase an add on ringer, something that would offer that old fashioned bell ring that I could install between the telephone jack and the phone itself. I've never warmed up to the electronic ringing sounds, and have even gone so far as to keep a vintage phone plugged in just for the sound (it broke last year). Do add-on ringer "boxes" even exist? Thanks.
