Something to try: "Missing Link, a pet supplement made by Designing Health, Inc. (800-774-7387). The product contains essential fatty acids and many nutritional factors important for healthy skin." Jean Hovfe, DVM.
That is recommended by Dr. Hovfe. She also states "Rodent ulcers often respond well to zinc. I have had some remarkable cures with zinc, but I've also had total failures." Zinc: 5 to 10 milligrams for a week or two. If the problem doesn't clear up, discontinue. Zinc can be toxic in overdose."
I know you need to try something simple and I do hope one of these things might help the cat.
Heart problems with Down's syndrome babies are unfortunately very common. Doctors are now very skilled at helping now though. I wish all the best for your baby's health.

Try calling some local shelters, see if there are any programs for down and out owners. Also try just calling a vet and ask if there is a program or a payment plan you can work out. Explain your situation as respectably as you can, I dont mean that you should use you baby as any type of sympathy ploy, but people are more apt to help you in a situation when children and pets are envolved. Try your local church if you go to one, say you have a monetary problem, dont say its for a cat though, and you need some help with bills, they can maybe make an effort in one day to get you some help.

Call around to several vets and tell them your situation. Tell them exactly what you want done. You dont want a full exam you just want the ulcers looked at.
Maybe have a garage sale to get the 50-75 dollars you may need to take it to the vet. Have any other kids. If they are old enough ask them if they will go areound the neighbor hood to wash ppls vehicles for a donation??

unfortunately due to the situation you are currently in you will need to find a good and loving home with someone who is willing to care for your cat ...your baby needs you the most right now and hopefully someone will be able to take the cat and get it what it needs...good luck

You might check your local paper. Where I live, there are organizations that will take in pets whose owners can no longer care for them and find homes for them.
I think that you do not need extra responsibilities right now. Need to concentrate on your baby and hubby.

It sounds like you're doing all the right things. Give it some time and see what happens.
