I have noticed lately that a lot of female sales people, or just some females will be very snotty to me, it's not just in one location, I have experianced it at a couple stores, and out in public in general. I was at Nordstroms the other day and the lady was really mean to me, then very nice to another girl. Male sales people always treat me with respect. I am a very sunny, happy person who always has a smile on her face and a good heart, so I don't get why I am treated like this, I don't get it at all, but I would like it to stop. What can I do? Why is this going on?

Maybe the female ones feel threatened by you.

Could they be judging you by your appearance and behavior? Do you dress conservatively or like a punk or a hooker? Is your makeup subtle and in good taste, or is it gobbed on? Are you neat and clean, or sloppy and slovenly looking? Is your personal hygiene good? Do you use deoderant and wash your hair so you look and smell clean? Is your demeanor calm and your voice modulated when you are in a store or environment where there are a lot of people? Being loud and "bubbly", can be seen as crude and brash by others

If your demeanor is one of calm confidence and control, and your appearance is very neat, clean and business like, you will be perceived as someone to respect and will be treated with respect.

If it can't be explained by any of the above, then you could be getting the same treatment by the current young generation that many of us receive - rude, impatient behavior by petulant sales girls. I say girls because their behavior is immature and an insult to womanhood. When you are treated that way, stay calm and take control. Ask for a manager and/or tell the sales person that you don't appreciate being treated with rudeness and if they can't treat customers better than that they shouldn't be in sales or working with the public. If this scenario fits more than any other, don't fret about it. It really is epidemic in the current young generation of self-indulgent, overly pampered girls who haven't had to live in the real world supporting themselves for very long in their short lives. They'll figure it out or will go hungry when they get fired.

Hey girl. I know exactly how you feel. It happens to me a lot too, and what I have found is from what people have told me is, the people who treat you poorly for no reason don't understand what you have to be so HAPPY about and therefore are jealous because you are so optimistic and outgoing.

Don't let these people bring you down, just ignore their rude behavior and continue to be the nice, friendly person that you are.

:)

We have no way of knowing why, the legit question is -
How to respond to bad clerks ?
If you spot one of the males, go to him first .
If none are available and as soon as one of the females gets dysfunctional, Ask for the manager .
Very calmly wait for the manager and explain that "you don't feel the clerk was very professional"
and ask "is there someone with a less abrasive attitude available?"
The manager should correct the situation.

In American society, and the societies of most countries, men have the bulk of the power and money. As American females, we have to take our share. It is not given to us freely simply by virtue of our gender, as with men. We have to prove ourselves, and we are going to make some people angry. Move beyond the naysayers and do what is right. Irregardless of what they think of our abilities. That being said, caution must be taken, especially when in some foreign countries.

As far as i am concerned, if those female sales people are mean, then they obviously don't need your sale, alot of sales people do get commission, so if they are b i t c h s to you, then ask to talk to another sales person, or go to a different store if you can, or talk to a manager.

I think there are some nice people and some mean people everywhere. Is it possible that you just see more female salespeople than male ones, so you see more mean female ones?

You need to speak up. Tell her that she is rude. Ask to talk to supervisor if necessary. You should not tolerate rude behavior.

Just take your business elsewhere or find a salesperson that is respectful.

What is it about you that makes women hate you? You already know the answer, but it is in your 'blind spot'. We all have a blind spot. Best of luck.
