It clearly contradicts Genesis, and Exodus as well. Otherwise, how could God keep the sun from setting so Joshua could continue his genocide?

Haven't you heard of the intelligent falling theory yet.....it totally debunks that gravity nonsense.

If you want to believe in evolution, that's fine. There is some evidence toward it and nothing against it yet (it hasn't been proven beyond a doubt, but neither has creation--so it would not be fair to attack creationists as believers of myth, both ideas require faith).

But as far as your supposition that the sun not going down (which is an expression of humans still used today even though the majority of us know it is an earth-rotation deal) is proof that the Bible is wrong based on the heliocentric solar system model; that is just wrong. If true (and if God exists then He is capable of it--since He was the one who created the universe He understands how it works), then all it means is that God stopped the Earth from revolving for a while.

Try it yourself. Get a few styrofoam balls and some coat hangers and set up your own solar system. When your done spin it around for a while and then all of a sudden put your hand in the way of one of the balls. I believe you will find that the whole thing will stop spinning. Now if you can do it, wouldn't it stand to reason that the God who made both you, the material for the styrofoam, and the physics rules that govern movement; is fully capable of stopping it on a somewhat larger scale.

Geocentrism is a poor theory, so we don't teach it. It needs a large number of concepts to account for what we observe. Heliocentrism accounts for the same facts with a smaller number of ideas (1 idea actually). On the principle of Occams' Razor it is the 'better' theory.

If the Earth stops rotating, the sun doesn't set, so your question makes no sense; unless you are implying the Earth was rotating but the sun was not moving which is an illogical presumption.

In fact He even made the Earth spin backward:

2 Kings 20:11 And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.

The sun stopped relative to the view of someone on Earth. It doesn't mean that the Bible says the Earth was the center of the solar system. It means that from the perspective of someone on Earth, the sun stopped moving. People really need to understand the perspective of the writer before criticizing.

It doesn't contradict Genesis. Light was the first thing God created, and all you need for a day, is light and a rotating body.

Daniel 4:10-11
The visions of my head as I lay in bed were these: I saw, and behold, a tree in the midst of the earth; and its height was great. The tree grew and became strong, and its top reached to heaven, and it was visible to the end of the whole earth.

what a large tree on such a flat plane known as "earth." how else could it be seen from the end of the WHOLE EARTH??? certainly if it grew in the middle east and one was, say, in California you could not see it...

some other terms of interest:

I Chronicles 16:30
Yea, the world stands firm never to be moved.

Psalms 93:1 & Psalms 96:10
Yea, the world is established, it shall never be moved.

Psalms 104:5
You did set the earth on its foundation, so it shall never be shaken.

and god said:
Job 38:22
Have you entered the storehouses of the snow, or have you seen the storehouses of the hail?

interesting... forget proving god christians heheeh, let's go find those storehouses he spoke of!!!

LOL
genocide
Dang that is funny
Boy I bet you wish you where the one to get that promise land back in that time

Edit:LOL
I think that it is so funny how ever one jumps on a band wagon and starts believing Theories like they are proven facts. Lord, I have a dust particle, can you tell me what it will evolve into.
As far as I'm concerned this is just a theory and until it is proven to be a fact, I will take the Lords word for it. I also find it fascinating how some Scientist are going through the Bible to try and prove their theories. (Did you know that in order to get the space shuttle up into space they had to go back into Genesis in the Bible to find the open window) bet you did not know

For people who have studied evolution and are aware that it's a fact it's beyond belief to see it dismissed so glibly by creationists. If they actually examined the weight of evidence for evolution they'd be embarassed that they ever doubted it.

I agree.

The Earth does not revolve around the sun. That's just the crazy ramblings of a bunch of clueless scientists. We all know the sun, stars, and others planets revolve around the Earth on a giant moving glass sphere, powered by a bunch of angels riding on exercise bikes hooked to turbines.
