HE ALSO SAID IF HIS THEORY WAS NOT PROVEN WITHIN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME THEN WHY DO EVOLUTIONISTS CONTINUE TO TRY TO PROVE HIS THEORY?
HE DIED OVER A HUNDRED YEARS AGO!

Marc...I'm not disputing- just asking views.
Sorry CAPS were not meant to be taken negatively. Hey, we can all learn from others. Give me the benefit of the doubt.

Exactly, nothing will ever be "proven." Atheiests and Agnostics like to believe that there THEORIES! are proven, but there not. There just theories. No one can disprove God, and will never disprove God. May the faithful maintain there faith, and the others shall eventually pershish (but i will still pray for them everyday, to change there minds.)

Darwin couldn't prove the mechanism behind evolution that we know now is the mutation of alleles. We are quite aware now what is the cause and it is the very same thing that animal breeders capitalize on when they breed for desired traits. Darwin lived in a time when to go against religion could bring ridicule and disgrace on your entire family. Thomas Henry Huxley ("Darwin's bulldog") convinced Darwin his works were too important to be left unpublished and if he didn't publish Alfred Russel Wallace was going to publish his own studies in evolution.
Look up Alfred Russel Wallace, the other discoverer of evolution.

Darwin never claimed to be an agnostic. The term was coined by TH Huxley decades later.
Evolution has been proven over and over again. If someone disproved it, he would get the Nobel Prize.
Try reading a basic biology book sometimes.
BTW making your argument in caps does not give it greater weight.

Oy gevalt.
This again? Evolution is not a religion. It does not require a belief in atheism or even a tendency towards agnosticism.
The processes of evolution are fact. They occur whether we understand them or not. Theories of evolution are our best and improving understanding of these processes at a given time. That's how science works.

What Mac said. Evolution is as much a fact as the Theory of Gravity. Are you going to start calling us Gravitologists?

What Darwin believed in is neither here nor there and his theory of evolution by means of natural selection hasn't been unproven or even seriously challenged after 100 years which in itself is testament to its validity.

Darwin had to tread a thin line with his writings and beliefs. Times were much different then. I'm sure he wasn't completely open with his true beliefs.

There is ample evidence that evolution is a fact, and that is really not debatable. There is no evidence that any story in the Bible is a fact, however.
