Most hotels require you to be 18. But pretty much all want you to have a credit card. Always call for prerequisites, It saves a lot of headaches.

Mostly it depends where you plan on going. In Europe you can drink at 16 so I would think the required age is 16 for a hotel or whatever.

You must be 18. Unless booking via a travel agent, if this is the case you can book prior to your 18th birthday as long as you will be 18 by the time of travel.

16 / 18, you need to be old enough to legally look after yourself whilst travelling, staying in a hotel.
