I have always heard that 2 pounds is about the most a person can lose per week safely. Of course, I think it depends on your starting size, too. I'd say if you are only 15-20 pounds over your ideal weight, then 2lbs/week is reasonable. If you can keep that pace, in theory you could lose 20 pounds in 10 weeks.

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

Stay motivated, and get up and walk every day. I seriously lost all my weight starting off my day on my walk.

Good LUCK!

there is no exact answer to this question because everyone's metabolism is diffrent.it also depends on your food intake and how much you exercise. But if you cut down your food intake and exercise 3-5 times a week you should lose about 4 punds a week so if you are looking to lose 20 pounds then about 5 weeks.

depends how hard you are willing to train. and by train i mean convert to a healthy diet, weight train and have a cardio routine that really gets your heart rate up. experts say that the best way to lose weight is to set small goals per month for yourself. 2-3 pounds per month is what is recommended especially if you've never exercised consistently before. one things for certain you will not see immediate results. it takes about a month or two for your body to rebuild itself as you stick to your healthy routine.
