After I updated my McAfee SecurityCenter, my computer has gotten slower and it freezes all the time. Should I uninstall my McAfee SecurityCenter?

before uninstalling, you should check how fast it runs if youve cleared your cache. goo to ccleaner.com and download ccleaner. it'll clear all the extra junk. run the security center to see if you have any spyware. spyware slows down your computer a lot. on the top of ccleaner, it'll tell you how much RAM you have. if you have 256 mb or less you might want to upgrade, since you need it too run faster, and its not that expensive.

Uninstall everything you don't need.

XP has its own firewall, so uninstall the McAfee firewall. You don't need the email av -- if you open an infected email, the regular AV will catch it. You don't need the spam filter either (with obvious implications).

I've made great money uninstalling McAfee AV, or at least most of the parts of it. I love the McAfee corporate ed, but the consumer edition stinks. If you want to run the full suite, make sure your computer has at least 1 gig, if not 2 gigs, RAM.

If you can post the specs of your computer here, but otherwise i'd try uninstalling McAfee and see if this effects your performance

Mcafee is a resource hog and will slow down your PC and Norton will do the same.
This is what I use and it works great.
AVG Removes I-Worm/Stration · BackDoor.Generic3.GBB and .GBC · Worm/Generic.FX · Exploit.WMF
