Hello mate,
Well my uncle is a Rastafarian, and I once when I was about 10, I took a lock of his hair, which had burst, I tried to put it in relaxer cream for about 20 minutes, it hardly took and what was relax just fell off. I then learnt that locks is made from a collection of dead hair - it's not attached to the head as such i.e. stemming from the follicle under the skin; and even if there was a possibility to remove it without cutting it (Which there is not) it would be a waste as it would just fall off, as it's not attached to the hair.

The only way to get rid of dreadlocks without cutting off your hair is to have fake ones in the first place. My niece makes fake dreadlocks for herself out of yarn. She wants to start selling them online. She could be wearing dreadlocks one day, and have smooth hair the next.
