If she was with someone for over a year and then found out that he had been seeing someone else for the past 8 months? I just don't get these chicks. The only reason I can come up with is desperation. What do you think???

The need to be needed. Sometimes seen as love, but it's just a form of not knowing when to quit. She could have low self-esteem, but she probably just feels comfortable with is man & is willing to forgive his indescretion in hopes that she will be his everything girl & he won't need to look else where if she can keep his every whim satisfied! Eventually, she'll get tired or get old & he will stray again & by that time she will have a child or 2 & be so confused & sheltered from staying in this relationship, that she'll stay in misery or start her own affairs just to try & regain a bit of happiness in her life. She is most likely a child who had a Father that was not very caring & a Mother who didn't forgive & she is determined NOT to be like her Mom! She thinks she will be better.....Don't try to understand her. Accept her as she is, because she will only change after she has suffered at the hands of the men that she will waste her youth trying to please & keep in a relationship. It's complicated. It's not desperstion, trust me. It's more like a challenge & it's a dangerous way to live. She needs therapy to heal a confused mind from something in her childhood that shortcircuited her cognitive thinking.

A year is a long time to spend with a person, Laura. Dont get me wrong, the worst thing to do in a relationship is to betray your partners trust, but its more then that. Mistakes happen and nobody is perfect. Temptation and confusion overtakes the person and they cheat. On the case you put, however, if it was 8 months then the guy has serious commitment problems. The girl loves him enough to try to work with him to help him, and no matter as how much you and I disagree with that, you got to respect the womens love and her drive to be with that person no matter what.

Desperation? I don't think that's the right word. She got him in the first place, so she can't be more desperate than the guy she was with.

Patterns for abusive relationship repeaters start early. I girl who goes back to a guy who cheated on her is repeating a pattern and she has self-esteem problems.

Big reminder: (Fix gender as it applies to any situation) Girls: Don't risk your own future and your own reputation. If he cheats, don't be mad at the other girl. If she has him, it only means that he can be had. If he can be had, you don't want him and it ain't her fault. She's the next one he will cheat on.

Arguing or fighting only makes you look stupid.

The boys make the girls feel like they're the most important thing in world. And what they did was a mistake. They guy makes them feel that if they lose them they lose everything important. They guy also makes the girl feel like no one else can love her like he does. He puts on a total front too get his girl back.
But some guys can really mean it and really do change. SOME

well its one or three things, baby, number 1 He is married to her,and wont tell her about his previous affair, or she took him back because he is lying to her through his teeth, and she doesnt know the truth, or number 3, She is in love with his personality and she is vunerable to his love, Desperate I dont think so, Cause no desperate woman will sink that low to go back to a man who cheated on her, no matter what she looks like

Love. Hope. Insecurity. Sometimes I think we girls are born thinking we can't live without the person we're in love with, and we have to get our hearts broken to prove to us that we can. Once we learn we can live without someone we love (no matter how much it hurts), we can have better relationships because we're not quite so willing to let someone treat us disrespectfully.

They are drama queens who have genuinely boring lives and want to make their lives into an episode of One Tree Hill rather than admit they don't have anything real going for them that won't be sagging in 5 years.

She has convinced herself that he will change for her if she's just "good" enough or pretty enough or faithful enough or some such thought process. It's something similar to the Stockholm syndrome it seems to me. They get in a rut and can't see their way out. It's painful to observe.

Girls try to change guys. It is a challenge. When there is competition, then girls are all for it. So if she takes him back, she is going to prove to him that she is the better one and try to get him to fall for her. Then she succeeds. Then once that is done, normally she ditches him b/c the competition is over. lol
