In Japan there is a formal and informal way of speaking. If you are talking to somebody superior like a teacher or somebody older than you say: こにんちは、私の名前は＿＿＿＿です。Which is koninchiwa, watashi no namae wa _______desu and pronounced ko-nin-chi-wa, wa-tash-ee no na-my-e wa_____des.
If you are speaking informally (like to a friend) you would sound silly saying the above and instead should say: こにんちは、私は＿＿＿　which is koninchiwa watashi wa______ and pronounced kon-nin-chi-wa, wa-tash-ee wa________.
