Knowledge can be bad when it causes us to become close-minded and reject new truths

A person can become narrow minded and even blinded by their current knowledge/beliefs, theists and non-theists alike. When current knowledge and belief cause us to reject new information, albeit valid, then our education and knowledge become a hindrance rather than a benefit. This applies to anything we learn - sports, skills, jobs, etc.

Spiritually speaking, the prophet Jacob wrote, "O the vainness, and the frailties, and the foolishness of men! When they are learned they think they are wise, and they hearken not unto the counsel of God, for they set it aside, supposing they know of themselves, wherefore, their wisdom is foolishness and it profiteth them not." (2 Ne 9:28)

A wise person should shield him/herself of incorrect teachings and accept all truth, ‘come whence it may’. We should avoid letting our current beliefs restrict further enlightenment.

And as for ignorance, no, it is not good. Blissful sure, but good - no.

Knowledge is never bad. But fear the religion that wants to keep you ignorant.

"It shall yet be the most remarkable quality of the bible. That there is not one word in praise of intelligence in the whole book." Susan B. Anthony.

knowlage can be corrupted and in this sence it is bad. Wisdom to can be just as bad, as man can honestly know to much. In a christian sence, imagine for a minute you knew all the horrors of hell, not just the ones writen about in books but horrors even worse than those. This would terrify you into becoming a babling idiot, in that sence knowlage is bad. However a knowlage of material things such as the things of this universe, no knowlage is not bad.

False knowledge, for one who is ignorant but is aware of the ignorance may be inclined to seek the truth, while the holder of false knowledge resists the truth in their misplaced confidence that they already have it.

Sure sounds like a theist.

Knowledge can tell us unpalatable things, certainly but do we want to know what the universe is like or just believe its what we want it to be? I choose the former wholeheartedly.

Ignorance causes millions of deaths every year because of the beliefs that can go along with it. Education is the most important thing in the world.
