Anyone with mathematical skills? For the purpose of baking, how much is 7/8 of a cup when all I have is a measuring cup with quarters, halfs and thirds? Thank you.

A cup is 8 oz. so by weight, 7/8 of a cup would be seven ounces.

On a measuring cup however, you are measuring volume, not weight, (although some things are the same. 8 oz. water by weight will also equal 8oz. volume on a measuring cup).

Flour and oil however, are not the same.

Therefore, if you're measuring a liquid, you can pretty much weigh 7 ounces of it. If it's a solid or a fat, then you're just going to have to eyeball a little less than the one cup line on the measuring cup.

What are you asking exactly? Are you trying to convert it to liters or what? You should have a converter on your phone that can do it. It would be under applications.

measure out 3/4 of cup, put it in something.
measure out 1/4 cup, halve that amount and add it to the 3/4
you will then have approx 7/8 cup

2 tablespoons short of 1 cup, so cut 2 tablespoons off of one stick of butter, set it aside, and add the rest of the stick along with a whole seperate stick of butter to whatever you're making.

Dear Randal, even 9 years ago, you re still an asshole. Thanks for reminding anyone online when they don t have a mom to "approximate" random ******* measurements in baking. I hope you can approximate how much of an incorrigible troll you are, it s not 7/8.
