Look at yourself in front of the mirror - naked.
Then look at pictures of a normal human being.

i have lost about 50lbs...270 to 220. I am 6'3" , male. So, another say 15 pounds and I will be at my playing weight. I can give you the post weight loss motivation. I did this over 6 months so when I see people I have not seen in this period, they don't recognize me. Many people are amazed...right or wrong they treat me differently. I feel so much better and have a lot more energy. The negative has been that it took my gf dumping me and my job putting the weight on me in order to get motivated. I left the job as a matter of fact because I needed to get the weight off..it was a toxic work environment, abusive, etc. And I am a highly educated guy, so while I took a gamble leaving, I kind of felt like I saved myself some health problems. will that be worth it in the long run? i hope so. So while I am starting anew work wise and woman wise, so am I weight wise. The most disappointing thing also is that my ex gf still won't have dinner with me. She keeps referring to the past when i was stressed and eating myself to death. Now I don't even think I know who that person was, but she still anchors to that time. Your motivation then in a nutshell should be that a large amount of weight loss will lead you down a path of healthy endeavors, a new outlook, and a very educational reflection on your past. I hope you can get started...that's the toughest part. Also, you have to be just a b*tch when it comes to refusing food, telling those around you not to present food too you, etc. If they don't respect this, they are not helping you. It will be hard at first but it gets easier quickly and in no time you will be on a roll. The experience of putting on old clothes, shocking people, and looking at before and after pictures will give you a lift too.

I think the motivation is already there, you are asking how rather than do I need or want to. Do not seek to motivate what will happen naturally if you change you lifestyle.
Seek to understand your eating and drinking habits, and the effect they have on your weight. Change your habits, and friends, and seek to alter your relationship with food and drink.
You say you like to have a good time, which suggests alcoholic binges. Alcohol can cause weight extremes, although it is not the sole cause. It can frustrate efforts to lose weight, and so if you want to be successful in the short term cut out alcohol and see what happens to your diet and what foods you crave when alcohol is cut out of your diet.
Start an exercises routine, which fits in with your schedule. Getting out on a bike, for an hour a day will help significantly. Walking is good to start with if you do not have a bike.
Have fun doing it, create a blog or something. I'm sure there are lots of other people doing the same thing.
Good luck

I don't know if this will work for you, but I always tell myself that I will do my workout (I choose my favorite cardio) for 10 minutes and if I want I can stop after that. Usually once I get moving, I can tell myself that I can stick it out for another 20 min or so. I have a variety of workout dvds that I can use when it is gross outside. If it is nice, I might go for a jog/walk listening to favorite music. Good music can be very motivating.I also have the magazine "Cooking Light" and those recipes inspire me to try new things that are low in fat. Once you get started on a regular program and start seeing results, that alone can be very motivating. Oh, another idea is to keep a journal- document how good you feel after working out and look back at it when you are not feeling motivated. Good luck!

Link to the site that I use is at the bottom...they have a wealth of motivational articles, and you get meaningless points everytime you do something that is healthy (they may be meaningless, but I want more!), and there are message boards with support when you hit a rough spot.
For me, it was two parents having obesity-related health scares in the same year that motivated me to take care of myself. Most people don't have that, so maybe tell yourself that you are going to take a fabulous vacation when you have lost the weight.
It's hard for us to say what is going to motivate YOU to lose weight - everyone is different. What works for one person may not work for you. Start by thinking in terms of what YOU want from a weightloss program and lifestyle change - it cannot be what you don't like about yourself now. Or, take those negatives and turn them into positives. Not, "I have no energy now", but "I will have more energy to play with my friends/kids/spouse when I have a healthy lifestyle."

Hi the only way you can motivate yourself is thinking on how you will look at the end of losing all your weight. But if cutting down on food is hard for you to do.Then just tone up and do excercise then you will tone up anyway and you can eat what you want and still look good. But if your like me I just cut down on food and never excercised and i lost weight but still didnt have the body i wanted so i really should of excercise as well. So from tomorrow I will do 20mins aday excercise as I know it works. Even if I do 10 mins in the morning and 10 in the afternoon, its still the same as doing 20mins all at once. I know its a pain having to do it. But when your watching tv on the sofa, instead of sitting down do some excercises when you are watching the telly. This way it wont seem as much of a chore for you.

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.
It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.
A sight with some really cool diet calculators and interesting calorie counting calculators is here. Check it out.

Stay motivated, and get up and walk every day. I seriously lost all my weight starting off my day on my walk.
Good LUCK!

Well, if you're not happy with how you look and can't get into the clothes size you want to wear, that should be motivation enough. It also depends on how much weight you want to lose or if you just want to be healthier?
Sometimes, the warm feeling you get from knowing that you can walk up the stairs because you've been exercising and dieting can be sufficient.

Hello
Motivation is an emotional thing so look at pictures of overweight people and say to yourself I too could look like that if I am not motivated enough.
mind you some overweight people are the nicest people on the planet so don't worry just be your self no matter how much you weigh
Hope this helps
Good luck

You could go to the local gym sign up their and see all the people their exercising and that will motivate you. Or have a friend come with you to the gym because then you can't just not go cause you have some one else depending on you going.

You don’t need to exercise for long periods of time. Short, sharp sets of exercise will produce better results should you work hard. Get a passing up rope, skip for two units, do push ups for 60 seconds or so, skip for two minutes, rest first minute. Then change the push up to something else like sit ups along with do the set again. Repeat it five times and it’s a fast, effective workout that will recover results than a long run or swim.
