It's been a warmer winter than expected so I think alot of cats are doing this this year. My cat is really shedding unbelievably this year. I'v bought the metal brush that looks more like a comb than a brush and it's really amazing and the cats love it more than their old brush. I also noticed that it gets more hair than a brush type of brush. And I brush my cats more than ever at least twice a day sometimes more. My female cat really sheds when she's nervous and the male cat licks himself more when he is nervous. Try the new brush and brush more and check to see if there is something different in their lives that is making them more nervous. It could even be a scent on your shoes from waking where dogs or other cats might be. My cats really get nervous and start shedding more if I am sick, the male cat licks at my veins, it always means I'm getting a cold or something. Also make sure the cat gets lots of water and wet food. add some cat grass to her diet. Good luck, if it keeps up get her to the vet and ask him, but when you take her to the vet she'll shed like crazy as well. Good luck.

I think this artical will explain a lot.

What you should know about Cat’s Shedding

The truth about cat shedding is that every cat lovers must accept it, because this is normal natural event in the cat’s life. Even the humans have periods of hair growth and shedding of hair. Shedding is how animals replenish their fur and keep it in good condition.

Cats in the wild generally shed their coats twice yearly, in the spring to lose the heavy winter undercoat and in fall in preparation for the "grow-in" of the next winters' undercoat. However, since we have domesticated cats and subjected them to air-conditioning in summer and artificial heat in winter, their systems have been confused enough to put them into a constant shedding state.

Cats shed in order to remove dead hair from their bodies. Dead hair can cause skin irritation and thus needs to be gone. If you do not remove it for them, they will release it on their own.

Hair shedding is considered a sign of health in the cat, because the sick cats do not shed. It happens for different reasons, but basically it depends from the time your cat spends outdoor or whether your cat is purely an indoor cat. The shedding is largely influenced by daylight, and this is called “photoperiod”. The number of hours a cat is exposed to sunlight in a day (photoperiod) triggers the shedding process. In addition, shedding varies considerably with breed as well as husbandry practices (i.e. bathing, grooming, activities, etc.).

Indoor cats shed at any time of the year. The amount of shedding hair is less than the outdoor cats due to the artificial light inside the house, but it depends and from the control of the constant temperature in your home.

The outdoor cats shed in the spring and fall, when the days start to lengthen and sun spends more time out. You will not see much if any shedding of your outdoor cat during the winter months, because they naturally will hold on to all their fur to use as thermal protection from the cold conditions

If it is really bugging you, its going to get worse. Hair is going to get everywhere in you house. The best option is to slowly bring her to an outside cat. If you have a garage, keep her in there for some days and then go with her outside (if she isnt a calm cat you may need a small leash or something to hold her). Start putting her food outside too. Make sure she has a collar on that she wont get off. BUT if you dont feel comfortable doing this, then the best option is to merely brush her more.

if your have like 30 or 40 dollars you can take her to the grommers and ask for a shed ex treament it works great and lasts about 3 months but its better then all that hair everwere its not a hair cut it just gets the under coat off and that what they shed

Some cats just shed more than others, but they ALL shed. Just love her the way she is, and try to keep a towel handy to cover yourself before you pick her up.

Give her a kiss for me!
