my husband's enlistment is up, and we are expecting baby #2, and with my family in NJ, and his in KS, the CG offers more of an opportunity to split the difference.

Have your husband talk to a Coast Guard recruiter. Your hubby has a good chance of being picked up by the CG, however he may loose one pay grade. It's a form of cross branching.... As for another comment about joining the Air Force... The Air Force will NOT accept cross branchers ( Servers members going from one branch (Navy, Marines, Army ) to the AF ) It's counter productive because you have already received military training. Good luck to you and your husband.

it will be difficult. The CG is the smallest of the branches and doesn't takle too many Priro Service types. If his current rating directly translates to a CG rating that is undermanned however, he stands a better shot.

yeah, I was in the CG, and a lot of my shipmates were prior Navy. If he's looking for quality of life, tell him to join the Air Force
