gene, it is exactly what you said that isnt working..

tab stays in the same level just actually moves the text over 5 spaces,

what i want tab to do is, after a enter; which advances the sequence in the same level , i want the level { A) to 1) } to change, with a tab as well

thanks,,

what im actually looking for is to change the actual function of the tab key itself while in an outline format (increase indent + indent)

???!!! Please restate the question. It's not clear what you are really trying to achieve. Pressing tab will take you to the next outline level in outline view. Shift+Tab will move you back up a level. What's not working?

You might want to go to options. From what I gather, you want to set how YOU want the numbers to indent. Go into Number properties and you should be able to select your number system.
