Honestly, they don't have to pay for anything. The same with your parents. If they do, gladly accept their generosity. I have seen some parents of the groom pay for the DJ or the bar. Usually the groom's parents should pay for the rehearsal dinner.

In most cases, the parents of the groom voluntarily assume additional expenses, but the following are their traditional obligations:
Hosting the rehearsal dinner
gift(s) to the bride and groom
Their own lodging and travel expenses
Their own wedding clothes.

Traditionally, the bride's parents take care of the wedding and reception and the groom's take care of the rehearsal dinner and honeymoon.
However, I think that's pretty archaic. We asked our parents if they could help us (financially and/or otherwise). We told them that anything they could contribute would be appreciated. I don't believe that you should EXPECT them to pay for anything.
My parents make considerably more than my wife's, but her parents ended up paying for more than mine. My parents contributed time setting up, decorating, and cleaning the rented hall after the reception. We were greatful for ANY help we got.

They don't HAVE to pay for anything. Most couples work on thier budget based on what the parties offer.. some parents don't pay anything toward the wedding.. some pay everything. Ask them what they plan on contributing if anything.

They don't HAVE TO do anything. Traditionally, they would pay for the rehearsal dinner and any alcohol at the reception. However, it is rude to assume that they will do this, especially if you are adults living on your own. If they want to contribute, they will.
