No there really is not a way. over years I've found that they will break apart the dash if you use anti-theft mounts. thus causing $2000.00 in damage rather that $200-400. Just put the cheapest stock radio in the dash--and get a remote mount radio for the trunk. then disable your trunk remote button or cable. There is no real market for used stereos --they are stealing them to get $20.00. there are also pull out mounts to take the stereo with you.

I think many ppl are hitting the answer here and it really depends on how they are getting in. I like (and agree with) the answer of mounting the speaker box to the vehcile using bolts. as for the radio, look for one with a detachable face and take face off and with you. Though a thief may steal it still, it may detour them. What sort of alarm system are you using too? you can by them today in which you will be notified either by an add on pager or by the remote itself if the car is being tampered with. Several companies make these and they typically come with an LCD remote that will tell you the status of the vehicle up to around 1/4 mile away if not farther! it's worth the price (anywhere from $125 to $300). You can add on LED "scanners" that will give further info to anyone passing by that the car is armed and has an alarm, as well as give you the piece of mind that you did arm your car when you see the LED's blinking from your bedroom window. Make sure you are arming the alarm too! I had a friend who had everything yanked b/c he was being watched by theives who were waiting for the night that he forgot to arm the car. It happened and he was sorry! An alarm with a back up battery may be a good feature but its not commonplace and really not needed if you have one that will notify you of a breakin.

There was a system I helped build years ago in which we did a custom console on the floor that housed a sweet top of the line clarion cd player. it was a 70's model licoln so to make it look old and detour theives we made a piece of black abs plastic with half an 8 track case mounted to it with epoxy and formed the plastic so that it would fit snuggly in the spot of the console where the cd player was mounted. when in, it looked like there was a real 8 track player in the car and not worth stealing!

Think like a thief. What are the weak points of your system? How are they disarming your car? How are they unlocking it? Are your windows tinted? Are your components out of sight. I was always told, "Out of sight, out of mind." Have you been taking your faceplate with you? Attach the sub box to the car. Take the speakers out the box, put the box in the car, run carriage bolts through the the floorboard of the car into the box. Make sure the nuts are inside the box. Get security screws to fasten the speakers to the box. and the amp to the box. You can beat these a.ss holes, just make a visit to the hardware store. I wish you luck. Find the weak points and fix them.

If they are legally towing it (you illegally parked) then they have a certain amount of time (varies by jurisdiction) to call the police and say I have a car that is screaming "I am being stolen", but do not worry all the paperwork is in order and I will have it at the impound yard soon - it will get quiet when the battery dies. Lesson - do not park illegally with these systems or you will have to buy a battery as well as pay a fine.

There is never any way to stop a thief unless you sleep in the car 24-7. and even then those sons of b***hes will still get what they want..
