I'll agree with most of the others here: Yes, in general. No, if it was the Christian God - what an immoral character!

In some ways, yes (eternal life, inalienable love, justice as the final outcome in the universe...)
...and leaving Christianity when I decided, at length, that it wasn't true was painful, and not just for the loss of fellowship and community.
But then, that's why I know I haven't got the bias of wish-fulfillment behind my current beliefs. I took to atheism only when all the other cupboards appeared bare, not because I went "Oh wow, atheism means I can do what I like!" (which it doesn't, by the way.)

No. I wish (and I use that term lightly) that other supernatural things were real, such as angels, demons, and other such beings. The world isn't interesting enough if they don't, but god is like having a character in a game that has all the cheat codes on and is invincible. For the most part, it takes the fun out of the game.

Sure. Having a Big Sky Daddy to call for backup when things look rough would be really handy...but if he was real, wouldn't I go to hell for questioning some of the things he does in the Bible? Maybe a generic off-brand God, but I'm not so sure I'd want the Christian version to suddenly appear.

Those of you who call yourselves Christians, you of Christendom, do you see what the lies of your religions have done, this is why you are false Christians and why God is going to destroy the false religions, you have made God look wicked with your lies of a fiery hell, torment for all eternity. That God has no feelings toward his children. God is a God of Love, God is Love, and is not going to punish the wick for all eternity, they will just be removed from existence, a loving thing to do because he cannot allow them to dwell with his righteous followers and cause them trouble. God is not going to take everyone to heaven, but we are to dwell for eternity on the home he created for us, the earth, and there will be no more sickness, no more death, everyone will become perfect and revert to their youth, age determined by God, the standard with which he created Adam and Eve. We will have homes that we build, plenty of food that we grow, we will make what we need, a perfect earth home, peace between all men and animals, the whole earth will be a garden of Eden. What you preach turns people away from God and their blood is on your hands.

It appears that you don't even know what Atheism is.
Im a Weak Atheist, this means that I don't believe in any deities, but this does not mean I reject the idea that a deity/deities do exist. If there is a real deity/deities, I simply have not found/them yet. If a god really does exist, I doubt we know of it's existence yet.
Most people don't even know what Atheism is.

I am not an atheist but I want to answer this because it is such a great question.
Of course there are people who do not want God of the Bible to be real because they do not want to be proven wrong. God is God no matter we think of Him. They live like there is no God, and they do not want to be God after they die, and they will not.
But God knows our hearts, and if there are people who truly seek Him, they will find Him. ( Heb 11:6 )

I guess I don't really feel one way or the other about it. If God really did exist, I would think he'd be pretty bored. I mean, what can an omniscient, omnipotent being do for fun? I mean, I don't think we'd really be stimulating company for him. He's omnipotent, so there's no point in working out. Unless he made a rock he couldn't lift.

Not any of the gods I hear about every day. If I could make up a god and make THEM real, maybe. But I don't want the Christian god to be real, that's for sure.
Of course, now that I think about it, maybe there are so many versions of Christianity (30,000+ different sects) simply BECAUSE no one wanted that particular version. If you can make up god as you go, maybe that should have clued you into the fact that you were just making it all up?

No I'm happy with him not existing - if he did exist, he'd constantly be battling Chronos, Zeus, Odin, Shiva and all the other superbeings for control of the Universe.
As for heaven and hell? Sure it would be better if life was a little more fair but we dont need it - one life, that's what we have.
