My personal feelings are this. It doesn't matter. Us ladies leave the seat down which means the men have to lift the seats and when the men leave the seats up we have to put them down so either way everyone is even.
I have heard complaints about the seat being up and people go the bathroom in the middle of the night when they are half asleep or they go and they don't watch themselves and about fall in because the seat is up. I think that's what the deal is on that OR it's just an excuse for people to complain

Leave it down because, 1. Sometimes women don't look at the toilet seat before sitting down..2. It leaves signs that a man was there...and 3. It's just teh way it is..and it's annoying when a women has to pull it down every time.

I think I answered this one recently...because although the toilet isn't an attractive appliance, it looks better with the seat down, and to keep from possibly injury from trying not to fall in if the seat isn't down.
Ideal is seat and lid down at all times. When the toilet is flushed, microscopic particles of it's contents are thrown all around your bathroom when the lid is up...imagine what's on your bath towels, toothbrush, and other surfaces you touch?

My husbands mother used to scream if any of the boys left the toilet seat up. Today he has his own bathroom in our house, but he still puts the toilet seat back down. I apriciate it so I don't fall in, but it really just depends on the man.

Well, let's see I have gotten up in the middle of the night and one two many times fallen in per se, because someone has forgot to put the seat back down. It's a rude awakening in the middle of the night . lol

leave it down because if u leave it up its likely we will fall in the toilet cuz we werent looking! If its just u in your apartment do what u want but when company comes or your at someones house change

ladies sit down to do the toilet and its softer to sit on the seat than on the hard enamel of the toilet bowl

If he doesn't mind when I put it down, I won't mind if he leaves it up. you ever sat in cold water in the middle of the night? I always feel for the seat before I sit.
