I am not sure if it would be easier for me to live in Spain or vacation there long term due to my mother's status in the country.
Do I have any privlidges because of my mother's Spanish citizenship?

You are probably entitled to Spanish citizenship derived from your mother. If you are in the US, you can contact the Embassy of Spain in Washington or one of the consulates to learn how to apply.

Be careful, though: Spain not only does not recognize dual citizenship with the US, it will revoke Spanish citizenship if the citizen becomes naturalized in another country (there are some exceptions, but the US is not one of them). So ask the embassy if you can have both Spanish and US citizenship. The US doesn't care, but Spain certainly does.

means you can be a citizen, and you dont have to apply for visa to visit everytime. i dont know what kind of perks you get for being a spanish citizen, but in other countries for example you can't buy land unless you are a citizen of that country.
