Make sure she has lots of fresh water and feed her wet food only until the uti has settled down. To get her to drink more water add some tuna water to her regular water, but make sure you don't let the water sit for a long time. Also get her some cat grass, and I've found the best formula for UTI's in cats is Purina I have two cats and neither of them have had this problem since adding it their diet. I mix it with the purina for hairballs. So they always get both and always get wet food. One other thing be sure to keep her litter box spotless all the time. I clean mine two times a day, or sometimes more if I notice the litter is dirty, it really only takes a second or two if you keep it up. My cats really love the Friskes wet food especially with the gravy. My son called once thinking his cat had crystals in urine he thought his cat was getting a UTI, so I told him to het a hot water bottle and place his cat on it also thats when we started the trick to add the tuna water to his regulare water, just to get him more interested in drinking water, it turned out that the cat was bunged up and he was really relieved but now it's become a habit with him to make sure that the cat gets lots of ffuid. Good luck to you and your cat.

For a cat with chronic urinary problems your cat needs to be on a special prescription diet to help prevent the formation of crystals in the urine. Talk to your vet about using Royal Canin Urinary SO, Hills Prescription Diet c/d, or something similar. They come in wet and dry. It's important that you don't feed your cat an abundance of the minerals that are causing the crystals in the urine so making your own diet is probably not a good idea unless you consult with a veterinary nutritionist about your cat's specific problem.
Urinary tract infections are often caused first by irritation caused by crystals in the urine or bladder stones irritating the lining of the bladder, then bacteria moving in and establishing an infections. Your vet can run a urinalysis to determine the exact cause.
Also, give your cat only distilled water. This will help dilute out any minerals your cat takes in and help prevent the crystals.
In response to the post about the pills to neutralize the urine... chances are you gave something to ACIDIFY the urine. Most crystals can't form in acidic urine so feeding foods and giving medications that make the urine more acidic will prevent the crystals from forming.

I remember giving my male cat red pills to neutralize the urine. He lived a long time. Just get the cat in immediately if you can feel the bladder through the lower belly. Uremic poisoning occurs quickly.

Ask the vet. As much as we love to share our views, if the cat's got a medical condition you're much safer asking a professional who knows your cat.
