Dermablend is the best. I have a scar and it works well for me. The great thing about it is that they have one that is waterproof so you can go swimming and it wont wash off. You can get it at Macy's, Hecht's, Nordstroms or at http://www.dermablend.com/
I hope this helps.

What color is your birthmark? I have one on my arm and my daughter has the same type of birthmark on her leg. The birthmark is rare and it changes depending on whether it is hot or cold. If I get mad it turns really red. It varies from pink to a reddish color. It actually looks like bruises. When I get a tan, it becomes less noticeable.(same with my daughter's)
If your birthmark is the same as mine, I would suggest using a self tanner. The Sally Hansen air brush stuff also works but it would not be as long lasting. If you use a self tanner, it should help to even out the skin tone and help to hide the birthmark.
I look at my birthmark as something special. It bothered me when I was younger because everyone asked what happened. I even had a doctor that thought I was being abused because he thought I had bruises on my arm. Now it just doesn't bother me. My daughter complains about hers occasionally. I use to go to each of teachers at the beginning of the school year and explain about the birthmark. One year I forgot to talk to the teacher and she sent my daughter into the office because she thought she was being abused. My daughter spent two hours in the school office trying to tell everyone that it was just her birthmark. Finally, they believed her. I finally wrote a letter and had them put it in her school files so that she would not have to go through that again.
I don't know if this information will help you. Sometimes we just have to accept what we were born with and enjoy our differences.
