It depends on the freshness of the corn.If its just been harvested it may take only 5 or 6 minutes.if store bought it may take 10 to 15 minutes. a couple drops of whole milk in the water will help butter stick to the cooked corn.

The thing about corn is, it's always ready.. it's like an apple.. cook it if ya want, but you don't have to.. so it's a texture thing, the taste really does not change much at all.. If it's hot enought to melt butter on it your good.... cook it any where between 10 to 20 minutes in boiling water.. the longer ya cook it the dryer it becomes..... so test it... fork can help.. but best to cut some off with a knife and taste it... then you know for sure.. YAY corn

When u stick a fork in the kernels they sould be soft and firm--but not too soft. Boil for about 10 minutes.

Corn is ready to eat...by boiling it...you are simply heating it up...so bring it to a boil...reduce the heat...and in 10 minutes it is ready to eat...enjoy!

Actually pretty hard to tell. By the same token, it's pretty hard to overcook as well. Doing the fork thing probably is best.
