If you think about it, the Christian religion is a permanent booby trap. Do you think that Christianity only still exists because of peoples fear of going to hell? Plus, If God was so smart and powerful, why create us? Some people say to have company but why create such a disaster? Put us humans through this just so we can be with him? Isn't that a bit selfish. Plus if he was so powerful why shouldn't he just make us all disappear. Plus ask your self Christians do you want to go to heaven to be with God or to avoid hell?

Don't you people see what i mean? He created a punishment and a punishment. Either hell or sit as his feet and worship him. That is selfish and other Christians have deceived you into believing other wise. Why give him what he wants? Is our creation just to make him feel good? I don't want to live if thats my purpose in life.

I get more disappointed with every new answer i read. Why does our purpose in life matter if we are just going to end up with him or Satan? Maybe Lucifer was onto something when he decided to leave heaven,

if someone offered you a mansion and you will never have you worry about anything every again, and live in harmony and love and be with family ,angels, and Jesus and God and all the beauty he has made for us, and then to later be able to live back on the earth again after God has destroyed it and rebuilt it to be the perfect place he originally wanted it to be, or go to Hell, which would you choose...and how could you not make a decision to do that, and if you don't believe in God, what you believe doesn't stop God from being, it only means when you die you go to hell......so you need to be doing some soul searching

I have to say, Ugly. Your question is a perplexing one. You have some very good points. One that I would like to add is if god really exists, then why doesn't it show itself? People say that god only reveals itself to believers, but even this is false. In what way does god reveal itself to anyone? The only "proof" that it exists is a mass-produced book. I believe that Christianity's core teachings are true, but it's been twisted around by so many people for so long, that it's true meaning has literally been lost in the translation. I think that Christianity has become a religion of fear, and hate. If I were god, I'd be so ashamed of myself for having created humans. Jesus must be turning in his grave, because of how his teachings have been so ill-received. The bible is supposed to be god's word, and god is supposed to be perfect. If this is true, then how come there are so many contradictions in the bible? How come the main reason for people losing their faith is because they read the bible from start to finish? Why do bad things happen to good people? Why is the world so violent? Why does god allow world wars to happen? Why doesn't it show itself? It's because of these questions that I do not agree with Christianity today. It is because they cannot truly be answered.
Let me leave you with a question of my own: Why is it that priests and reverends do not answer your questions, but instead shoot questions back at you? Why won't they answer? Is it because they can't answer? Think about this. You may come to the conclusion that I have. That god as is defined today simply does not exist.

christianity still exists because: parents shelter thier children from learning about other religions, christianity strokes the ego and makes the children feel like they belong, christians have youth groups; Pagans and Buddhists do not, christians use fear tactics to get those that rely on emotion rather than intellect to join thier religion, christians harass those that they know are Pagan or Buddhist, sometimes with death threats and by damaging personal property, christianity is an easy way out for those that dont want to learn about other religions and true spirituality.......
God was so smart and powerful, why create us? Ea, not jehova created humans because he thought they would be useful and give new ideas on how to do things that were never thought of.
Put us humans through this just so we can be with him? actually the other Gods and Goddesses like atheists, its just that Jehova and Allah were self centered and wanted the world to revolve around them.
Plus if he was so powerful why shouldn't he just make us all disappear? About that one, theres the karma rule, NOT EVEN GODS are above the laws of karma, so if they went out and killed humans because they were lesser than Gods they would be punished harshly by other Gods and Goddesses.

IF Christianity was true, I would rather go to hell than be kissing God's *** to get to heaven. I will not support a God like that! If God does not like that then He should not have created me.
It is still around because people are scared of hell, they feel since they become a Christian they are better than ever one else, and all the money given to the church by its followers helps some.

I think Christianity still exists because many people have grown up with the ideas of Heaven and Hell planted in their heads, and they don't want to take the time to learn about other religions. It's not just the fear of going to Hell, but that could add to it.
Ignorance is why Christianity still exists.

It still exists because it is the dominant religion in this part of the world and most of the time children are raised up in it. That's how it's kept it's hold. The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world, as they say.
Yes, I have to agree with you, particularly because I see so many Christians posting Pascal's wager day in and day out. They are trying to scare us Non-Christians into worshiping their God by using threats of hell, fire, and damnation. Personally, I think that's a lousy reason to believe in a God just so you won't go to hell; It reeks of trying to cover your own butt.
And no, Christianity does not provide "good morals", have you actually bothered to study your bible? One of the main reasons I reject Christianity is because I find it to be immoral.

I believe that Christianity exists because it provides comfort and good practice of moral values. In the 21st Century the well educated know that we were not put on this planet.
There is not one scrap of evidence that Jesus was the Messiah. That he died on the cross to save us. Save us? That's got to be the biggest joke ever. Save us from what? Aid, Cancer STD's Slow and debilitating conditions, birth defects etc etc.
I do not condemn people have religious beliefs as it brings the community closer together. I just don't believe in Christianity or any other religion.
Provide hard facts and evidence and then I shall make an educated choice.

Christianity in not a booby trap. I dont think that you know what you are talking about. Christianity does not exist only because people dont want to go to hell, they are their to worship God and stand up for what they believe in.
God wanted to create people in his own image, that is why he created us and he all gave us a purpose to live for. He put diasters and wars out their to teach us a lesson and plus a lot of these diasters isnt because of him its because of the devil too.
Christians do want to go to heaven and be with God. So dont judge them. I'm a a Christian and I do know what I am talking about.

It still exist solely because of Paul (Saul). If it had not been for Paul Christians Would be an obscure forgotten little sect in history as the symbol of a sardine right now. It was not Christ it was Paul who was the greatest man who ever lived. Of course Christians wont agree but Christ was made by Paul. BB

Fear of hell makes some think about Christ but true Christianity is a relationship. Relationships are based upon love, not fear.
