Say your doctor told you you had maybe a year at best to live. It is not a contagious desease. Do you tell anyone? Is it wrong not to tell the ones who love you because you don't want the simpathy treatment and have them worry as well?

If in fact you are told that you are dying I think it is important to disclose the information to your love ones. It is selfish to keep it a secret. Many people will of course want to be supportive toward you and you will certainly get attention. It is selfish not to tell as there may be things that people would wish to say to you. If you hold that information back then those people may not be able to share regrets and appoligies. You will be going to a better place but you will leave those behind wondering why you didn't trust the information to be told. Wish you well and I hope you decide to tell.

i would tell you to let the ones you love know....and as soon as possible...if they tell you that you have a year to live..it is only a guess....it might only be 3 weeks...these ppl love you and will want to make the best of your last days...not to mention taking care of the financial end of it all.death is not an easy thing to have to deal with and maybe some counseling will help too

I think I would hold off for a little while so that I could accept it myself first then tell my close family and friends so that I could help ease their adjustment as well. Telling them before it's to late would also enable us to get our heads together on financial issues, burial issues, child custody issues if there is any, etc.
