My dog is very small, a mixture of a minature poodle and a chuiahuhu. The thing is I often have to leave it alone for extended periods of time in a kennel because I live alone and I need to work. When I come home the dog seems to have had an enormous fit. Once I came home and the dog had tried to chew its way out of the kennel, as there was blood on the carpet and inside the kennel from trying desperately to free itself. When I do let it stay out of the kennel there are even more extreme messes everywhere. I have no idea what to do to help my dog remain calm when I am away. I have no one I can have watch the dog or even ideas of who to give it to if it must come to this.

There are a couple of things you can get at a health food store to give him to calm him down. One is Rescue Remedy and the other is Melatonin tablets.
Also would it be possible to give him more room while you are gone? Perhaps keeping him in a bathroom with his bed, papers or pads for pottying, toys, food and water.
Most dogs do not like being crated for long periods of time. doing that can harm him mentally.

Well my best answer for you to do is to just simply get something that will keep it entertained. things simply like a chew toy or a bone. i got mines a bone. or set up things for your dog to go on an adventure without flimping things over and messing up the house. you can buy little cheese ball they sell for them in side bones and hide them in the house (hide them in a way that they can find it and get it). o yea, dont keep it in the kennel. i hate those things after what happend to my mini dachshund. I dont think thoses things are safe.

I think it sounds like seperation anxiety! If you call your vet, they have medications that calm them down, and just, tell them what's happening, they can suggest something to give the dog, according to it's size.

put it in a bedroom with a blanket, toys, food, water, and if it is a puppy put a potty training mat* in the room.

**Potty training mats are available at Petsmart, Petco, etc.**

how old is your dog? if its a pup keep training it and it will get used to it if it is an adult talk to your vet about anxiety meds. it sounds controversial but it helps.
