An easy rule of thumb is this: If it has flour or sugar in it, don't eat it.
If you follow that rule, you'll stick to fruits, vegetables, and meats, and you should be fine.
One additional point: Any food can cause weight gain, if portions are not controlled. For example, if you eat 287 oranges every day, you'll get fatter.

All foods if you eat too much.
Stick to as varied a diet as possible (anything in moderation) and try to mostly eat food that is as unrefined as possible ie natural not highly processed.
Cook for yourself rather than eat out because there are loads of hidden calories in restaurant food - even veggies are smothered in butter - generally the more colorful the food the better it is for you.
Also eat regularly - three SMALL meals with three small snacks a day and get some exercise. The more muscles you build the more calories your body burns through out the day.

Re-fined Carbs
like white bread, pasta, cookies, rolls.
Replace these with whole grains.
Quantity-use a sandwhich plate instead of a dinner plate for portion control.
Meat should be the size of a wallet, and carbs the size of your fist.
Eat soup before a meal.

Avoid fried foods, fried snacks, oil based dreesings, cream, cream based desserts.......avoid red meat, organ meat ,whole milk & its products , processed cheese.....avoid mango, banana,chikoo,grapes, pineapple,tinned fruits ,fruit Juice..........avoid Aerated Drinks ,fruit Juice (fresh/canned)& Alcohol.
