yes, and it's insane.
bi-polar who self-medicated with alcohol for 5 years before finally seeking professional psychiatric help; one 2 meds now; drinking is less, but still doing it.

emotionally abusive; then apologizes the next day and promises to change, only to do it again; punches walls; breaks things; throws things.

big dreamer; thinks she can do anything; but now is in a depressed state for about 2 years b/c of failure at work; used to be a huge success; able to inspire tons of people; i got caught up in the enthusiasm and zest for life; wish her parents had been more involved when she was a teen; one was in another state and one was an alcoholic.

a perfectionist--can't stand to be wrong; very critical of herself and others; very smart; easily swept away; gets her feelings hurt easily. instant gratification: always buying things, even though i tell her that we don't have the money; was fired b/c of a drunken episode at a work party

it's been the worst 2 years of my life; finally got her on some meds; don't think i'll be sticking around much longer; b/c it doesn't seem to be getting any better.
what's your story?

I had to divorce my bipolar ex husband. He was verbally and emotionally abusive to our children and myself. He would leave for days and I would have no idea where he was or when he was coming home. He spent way more money than we had. I was constantly getting overdraft charges from the bank and he gave me $10,000 credit card debt shopping on line. I had to close our account and cut up my cards. He would stay up for days painting or skateboarding and then a week later he would sleep for days and wouldn't get up. In our 5 years of marriage he had 11 jobs and we had to move 7 times because he spent our rent money. When he would get angry he would get this indescribable, scary look in his eye and I knew to keep my mouth shut. I finally got up the guts to grab my kids and run. His living and job situation has been more unstable since the divorce.
Of course during the whole marriage he refused to go and get help.

My step dad was bipolar and my mom had to leave him because of it. He was very eratic. One day he would sleep all day and the next day he would rent an airplane and fly all over the U.S. He was very extreme but also very brilliant and successful. I think he was so successful because of his bipolar. It made him a phenomenal business man. Did you know that 6 United States Presidents have been bipolar? They are very intelligent but they need to be medicated to control their behavior.
