He's a really great guy. He doesn't really think about sex, he's smart, and he's totally against cheating.
is that good enough?

I think that it is fine as long as you guys are responsible with your actions. If he is a great guy whom your whole family is familiar with, I'd say fine. Just don't put yourself in a situation where you may be vulnerable.

It may or may not work out, but you can have a nice time dating him anyway... even if it turns out he's not the love of your life.
One thing to keep in mind is that a 16 year old guy might have more expectations on how far he wants you to go (physically). Regardless of what HE wants, you have to do what is best FOR YOU. Do not allow him or yourself to put yourself in a situation that YOU are not ready for.
What do your parents think of the idea?
I just read your additional information. Don't kid yourself, all 16 year old guys think about sex. Just make sure to not let anyone pressure you. It's best to wait as long as possible before getting into all that mess.

I would say that the age difference is acceptable but is your family going to be okay with you dating your brother's best friend. When I was 26 I briefly dated my brother's 30 year old best friend. It was a huge mistake in the end, I cringe when I think about it and I wish that it had never happened.
I was an adult though, but I didn't know any better. I didn't want to think about it, no one does when you like someone. You just want to jump right in and ther isn't much anyone can say to stop you. Be smart and have fun.

Your parents are letting you date at 14? I think that you should be careful about this because if he does something to hurt you it will also upset the relationship between you and your brother and him and your brother. Wait a couple of years and stick to boys your own age that may be less likely into pressuring you into something that you are not ready for.And trust me on this ALL guys especially this age are thinking about SEX!!

One of my best friends, whom is 14, and my brother, whom is 16 are going out. I think that this is fine. They are both good people who can be trusted with their actions.
You guys are the same age as them and so far there relationship is good...I think that yours should work out fine.

Ain't no big deal. He's looking for some sex and what a better way than to corrupt a young girl who is curious. Have a good time with him.

Its ok to date him, go to the movies and stuff, cant say its going to last forever, but you are only 14 you can worry about that 10 years from now...just make sure everything you decide to do, you are happy with, dont let him push you to anything you dont like...take care and good luck

i think its ok for a 14 year old to go out with a 16 year old but the fact that hes your brothers best friend , i would say you shouldnt date him.. cause when ya'll break up it might mess with your brohters relationship with him ... my brothers best friend is 17 and im 15 and we both like each other but havent done anything about it casue he is really close friends with my brohter and my family has like "adopted" him into our family ...

Yes! The Age difference is perfect, and its also great that he is your brothers friend so he can some over often. And its also good that your family likes him too, so then you wouldnt have to try to get your parents to like him.

NO, he is your brothers bestfriend, he is off limits. You don't go out with your brother's friends. If they are his true friends, they wont even think about dating his sister... that is a line you don't cross.
