I have battled Anorexia for 13 very long years. What most people do not realize is that Anorexia is a mental disorder. Which is that the starving and obsession of weight loss is more than just calories. The calorie amount matters inregard to health but it is the mental thought process that makes one Anorexic and not how much you way or how much you eat. If you are obsessed about it then you have a huge problem. That leads to the deathly thinness and body failure. More you become obsessed the less you eat and the stronger the hold gets. So inorder to be Anorexic you just need the thought process, and it does not turn on and off. You can not just stop doing it, like a diet. it becomes your life. So what I am trying to say even if you get extremely thin that does not necessarily mean you are anorexic it all about how you think.

Ok, here is the deal. You are fourteen years old and 5ft 5in. Well you are a good height for your age. Your weight is ok, do not lose it. You are fine like that. You can't go on a diet! Don't do that! You shouldn't count up calories because that is wrong and it shows you are insecure about yourself! Going on a diet when you are a teenager is torturing since you are going through puberty and you need all the important irons, vitamins etc. You can try and talk to the doctor about this. Doing excercise is ok. Just an hour or an hour and a half is alright. Just do it for fun and to keep yourself fit, not to lose weight! You can go anorexic if you lose a lot of weight and when you barely eat or count calories all the time. I see you want to fit in models clothes.. Well size zero is becoming more and more unpopular.. The best thing you can do is talk to an adult about this and they will tell you just what i and the other answerers told you. You are beautiful and you are as good as you are even when i haven't seen you. Don't do this to yourself because anorexia nervosa is a dangerous thing and the chances of surviving is not big. Again, don't lose weight. You are as good as you are and you will get those model clothing for your size, mark my words.. Eating between one hundred and four hundred calories a day can make you eventually anorexic, especially when you do a lot of excerise. Just eat what you like, be balanced about it though and take some excercise, don't over do it..
Take care and have a nice day.. Again, you are as good as you are!

First Fact: Muscle weighs a lot more than fat! Therefore it is very easy to weigh more than you think you 'should' if you have been doing a lot of toning exercises.
Second Fact: Model clothes come in all sizes therefore you are kidding yourself if you really think that this is the reason why you think you need to loose weight
Third Fact: People who don't eat a lot and skip meals are more likely to retain fat because the body goes into an emergency state and starts to store it on purpose
Fourth Fact: Nobody likes a skinny *****!
You are 14 you should not be on a diet unless you are overweight which you are not. You are still developing as a woman and it is very important that you eat healthily. It's great that you do a lot of exercise, but you should research some healthy eating plans rather than diets and you should be eating over 1000 calories a day.
If your weight really bothers you then stop building up so much muscle and do more aerobic exercises such as running, cycling an swimming.
Do not get too hung up about your weight as you will become very boring - and I'm sure you should be out there chatting up boys! (They NEVER like a girl who's too thin!)
I hope this helps.

You already know that you don't need to lose weight. In fact, at your height, a weight of seven stone would be underweight and very dangerous to your health; damage done now might only show up years from now and I know at 14 you think you will never be anything but young, but the truth is that you will one day be an adult, so please protect your body now so that the adult you become does not suffer from heart and liver problems, and osteoporosis (spinal curvature - yes, a hump - and fragile bones) caused by starvation dieting.
To answer your questions: a calorie allowance of 100-400 per day is already anorectic. Your body will never get used to not needing food. Anorexics can switch off their cravings only because they are mentally ill.
If as you say you are feeling desperate to lose weight so that you can fit model clothes, then please think about talking to someone about how you feel, not just about your body but about your life in general. It could be that you lack confidence, are unhappy or feel bad about something, or just that you're a little bored! Only you know which of these is the case.
By the way, with the recent deaths of 2 models from anorexia, many fashion show organisers no longer allow models below a certain weight to take part. Size 00 and 02 are simply not realistic.
Hope this helps.

You can't do this. Your body will consume its own muscles if you do. Then you will burn fewer calories. Your metabolism will go into starvation mode, causing your body to store all the food energy it can.
If you really want to lose some weight, you should cut back on the situps some and add in about 30 to 45 minutes of cardiovascular exercise at least four or five days a week. You will tone up in places other than your tummy and you will lose weight. You should be consuming probably something like 2000 calories a day, certainly no less than 1200 at the very, very least.
If you take care of your body it will respond well. If you abuse it by starving yourself and exercising to an obsessive lever, it will eventually let you down, it can only take so much abuse before becoming ill.
Use body mass index charts to find out an appropriate weight range for you.
BTW, it should probably take you about two months to lose that last stone. Any faster and you will most likely gain it back.

I would suggest your problem has nothing to do with diet ,losing weight, or what you say you look like in a mirror. It is about self esteem. To approach a forum like this takes `guts` and I think you may well be on your way to cracking the problem, I would be interested to know why you feel you should be a lower weight, where did this idea come from?. I have a wife who because of diabetes has lost so much weight she cries endlessly, she is 5.3 and 9.5 stone. Maybe you could give a bit of time to reflect upon this and be thankful that you don`t have such a problem., Good luck.

You do not want to go down this road. 20 years ago I began doing the same thing you are talking about doing. After 3 hospitalizations, a nearly destroyed thyroid (this regulates your metabolism) and years of emotional agony I have found a lot of peace with a yoga practice. However, I struggle every single day. I could not keep my caloric intake that low and found myself with both Anorexia and Bulimia at age 17. With a caloric intake that low you risk death at any time. If your body runs out of potassium you die instantly. If you have electrolyte imbalances due to dehydration you will have an irregular heart beat. Death is not the solution for bad self-esteem. You MUST talk with your parents, a counselor and a doctor about your plans. You SHOULD trust me on this one. You have your whole life ahead of you. You do NOT want to look at yourself 20 years from now and ask yourself why you didn't learn to love yourself.

that is a bad idea you have there.
400 calories is not enough for your body to function on- are willing to give up your health to be thinner?
the minium a grown- women should be having is 1000 calories, so god knows you need more.
just make healthier choices when it comes to food e.g. brown bread instead of white bread, an apple instead of a chocolate bar...
and excerise do about 40 mins cardio a-day(walking, jogging, swimming, cycling whatever you feel)
these is not just to lose weight but looking after your health
you need to get your prioties straight
your health is far more important than your dress-size
you can't survive on 400 calories for the rest of your life
because quite frankly you will die
don't focus on your weight...be who you are and proud of it..besides guys like curves maybe you will see that more as you get older
you don't have to look like a model to be pretty rememeber that

Your body would never get used to not having food in fact it kills your metabolism and begins to clutch on to every ounce of fat you have left. If you wanna lose weight eat at least 1200 calories a day and do an hour of cardio. 400 calories is way to little to eat. It will put you through starvation and in the last stage of starvation your body swells and plumps up. Then you die.

You are considered anorexic if you cut out necissary neutritional groups and obsessively work out. The exact definition of Anorexia nervosa is:
an eating disorder primarily affecting adolescent girls and young women, characterized by pathological fear of becoming fat, distorted body image, excessive dieting, and emaciation.
Sure, you will loose weight. But, a part o your brain will die. Yes, die. Like gone forever and you will regret that. Also, if you do not eat, you will be stripping down your muscle and becoming a flubber blubber, even if you are very thin. you will have no definition. so, please dont starve yourself. people do die from this once they get addicted to doing it, so to keep yourself thin and in shape, eat 1,500-2000 calories a day. Make sure to eat nuts like almonds for a snack, bananas, oranges, and walnuts. Eat three meals a day with snacks. Lastly, drink lots of water, it helps promote a healthy body.
So, i am sure that you are on the way to being anorexic, so please, get help because you dont want to end up like this:

or it will be too late.
See this beautiful girl in this picture?:

She was 21. She was perfect as she was, but she decided that to be a model she needed to give up her comfort, her food, ans it ended up being her life. If you dont give a car gas and oil it wont run for very long. If you dont feed humans, they wont run for very long either. See what I mean? Sort out your priotities, and is being that thin worth it? Most likely that answer is no. Enjoy your youth while you can because it is only the first 21 or so years of your life. Too bad Carolina cut her life short, dont make that be you.
its just plain descusting.
