I've gone through this and it's really hard to take and really hard for the cat as well. When this happened to my cat I was stunned because I thought she was to young to hit a heat stage, but was I ever wrong. So a friend of mine sais that her mom used to have lots of cats and her mom also said the heat really means heat. 'So we got a roasting pan, you can use any sort of flat pan and we put some snow it in and stuck in the bath tub. Then we placed a tea towel over the snow and let it get cool, then we put the cat's bottom on the tea towel for just a bit. It scared her at first so we went slow but tried to cool the area down and surprisingly it did make a difference. You really have to be careful that you don't freeze her bottom or keep it on there long enought so she gets a bladder infection. It looked stupid but 30 seconds of cool on her but did make a difference and we made sure the pan was alway full of snow and the tea towel, after awhile she would go in there herself. The minute the heat is finished find a vet and get her fixed. They yowl unitl they mate then the heat stops, but if you let her get pregnant then you hve to (you know) so hopefully this trick will help a bit for awhile. It did help Ashes and our friends howled at what we did, but it helped everyone get a nights sleep. Good luck.

Hi there...cats become sexually mature over the ages of 5-7 months and while in heat caterwaul (howl loudly) to let male cats know she is receptive to being mated. Spaying her will be the only way to resolve the constant meowing as well as prevent unwanted pregnancy as well as mammary, uterine, ovarian cancer. Each time a cat goes into heat they are put at higher risk for the cancers.
Most shelters worldwide offer low fee spays and sometimes some will offer free spays depending on the particpating facility. If you are located in the USA you can ring 1-800-SPAY USA http://spayusa.org to locate a nearby participating shelter.

Don't let her run loose! This is how so many unwanted pets end up being cold, hungry, and finally euthanized. Spaying doesn't cost much these days. They even have clinics and mobile vans where the costs are very nominal.

Yes. Get her spayed. That way there won't be any more unwanted kittens in the world either.
I can't believe that there are still people out there who don't get their cats neutered.

Sorry to say this but it serves you right for not doing the decent thing and getting her spayed. It's cruel to leave them like that.
That might help stop her from going on heat in future.

Yeah, you should have been a responsible pet owner and had her fixed, then you wouldn't have to worry about this problem.
Now you wait for a week or so until she is out of heat, then you take her to the vet and get her spayed.

you could take her to the vet and see if they have any hormone treatments to stop her bieng in heat, apart from that you will have to wait till shes finished bieng in heat and get her spayed straight away just thank your lucky stars shes not a siamese......you have NEVER heard anything like one of those buggers in heat!
