it went right back not just the tip of the nail in the middle of the skin bit it also really hurts and i have been having a plaster on it but wot else can do?

i hate it when that happens! OUCH! I would ask you doctor for some prescription painkillers. it your nail cracked i have a trick. my younger sister dropped a wooden box on her toe and split her nail. I learned from my nail lady that clear nail polish seals it back together.

Keep a clear coat on it. Try Sally Hansen "Hard as nails" polish... they come in colors and clear coat. If it actually breaks a little, you can cut a tiny piece of a tea bag (as big as the tear) and super glue it to the section of nail that tore. Then file it down so it is even with the rest of your nail. That will help keep the rest of the nail strong.

doctor =) there should be a nail growing under it. it'll be back in no time. relaxx for the time being. try to ignore the pain.
