All of the above will work, but you could also walk into any camera shop on the planet and have them copy the contents of your memory card to a CD or DVD. They usually do this while you wait and it costs peanuts.
This even worked for me in Cuba, of all places.

2) Buy large memory cards like 4 GBs
3) Make your imagine quality Medium and Sharp. (If Sonys have that setting). Lower resolution and/or of the picture..

I agree with Ponies, unless you are traveling somewhere extremely remote. After you get the CD burned, make them check it to be sure the images are there before you delete your card.
