i was told that when an adelecent staffordshire bull terrier is banging its head on things, its attempting to crack its skull??? why is this?

i dont have a staff, as i said, this is just something i heard, i didnt say i believed it which is why i asked - thanks for your insults, you'll all get negative feedback now;)

That is just silly. There is neither logic nor sense to this myth. If you think about it, cracking one's skull open is counterproductive to continuity. Those dogs with cracked skulls, would not survive to pass their genetic code for skull cracking on. Hence the practice would die out.

Your staffy is fine. ;-)

The opposite is actually more likely to be true. As with human babies, the pieces of skull aren't completely fused together to help when they are squeezed out of their mother's womb (sorry, that's a bit graphic). As they age, the bones knit together so their skull is complete. I think the guy just got his wires crossed somewhere!

this is not true at all when a staff is a pup the head is a lot smaller but as they grow the head will split at the top this is a natural process that will happen as they grow these breed of dogs have a wider head and the splitting will take part between the ears it does not hurt them etc etc if your staff is banging his head on things i would consider taking him to the vets
