I'm pregnant and on a new insurance plan through my husband's job. There's a $500 deductible per individual and a $1000 for the family. I need to go in for a regular pre-natal visit with ultrasound. We've paid nothing on the deductible so far so will I need to pay it when I go in for this visit? It would just be the $500,right?

If I do pay the deductible with this visit, will I need to pay it again when I go to the hospital for delivery, or is it a one time only thing?

You should contact the health insurance company or get a copy of their benefits which outline the services they provide and their fees, instead of posting your questions here.

Your husband should have received that benefits package detailing the health benefits provided by his new insurance plan.

Generally, it depends on the insurance carrier. Some require a deductible on every visit while some may require a deductible once for an on-going procedure though it's generally the former treatment.

Also, check to see if your husband's company also offer a MSA (medical savings account) or a FSA (flexible savings account). He can contribute with pre-tax dollars into the account then use it against your medical payments, which will save you money than paying the medical bills with post-tax dollars.

No, the deductible is cumulative. For instance, your insurance will pay a certain percentage of the visit and you pay the rest. After you have paid the $500, the visits, etc. become 100% covered. Best info would be to contact insurance company directly. They can go over exact figures.

The deductible, unless your insurance company specifies it, is usually payable through doctor visits. Most cases specify that both deductibles must be met before the insurance will pay further. If you pay a deductible once, accept in the case of some Medicare secondary insurances, you don't have to pay it again.

You pay your deductible till now you get your payout, in case you do no longer declare you on no account could desire to pay any deductible. RE: do you're able to desire to pay the deductible each and every 12 months? i'm exploring my strategies finding out on the terrific coverage. I did somewhat study. i understand the difference between hmo and ppo. however the deductible and larger costs you're able to desire to pay is at evening corners of my ideas remarkable now i do no longer thoroughly understand the way that works. Than my mom in regulation informed me you're able to desire to pay the deductible each and every 12 months. Is that genuine? yet than once you purchase coverage they ask which you pay the deductible first to be sure that your physician's visits and prescriptions to no longer value you something. You wont could desire to pay those till the deductible is payed for.

you pay it every year. It probably resets January 1st.

You need to pay the bill, and submit the paid bill to the insurance company, for it to count against the deductible. One prenatal & ultrasound probably won't cost $500.

Check your policy. Most often if there's just the one deductible for all medical care, you pay it, and that's that. BUT - some plans have separate ones for hospitals and lab tests as well.

There are too many 'ifs' to answer this. You need to examine the insurance plan to get the information you need.
