Hispanics aren't Spanish. It doesn't have anything to do with PC. People from Spain are Spanish, they're European. I find it disturbing when Hispanics refer to themselves as Spanish.

i just asked two of my friends who are Mexican, they said it would be a no no to call them " Spanish" because they are not from the country of Spain, it is just the language they speak. They would prefer to be called well, Mexican lol! or Latino, and some would prefer to be called by there "tribal" background Aztec, Maya, etc. but most settle for Latino. and yes I really asked them LOL

Hope this helped.

Mexicans or other nationalities here in the USA don't called them self Spanish or Hispanics,,, those terms were given to us by you people. About the Spanish calling it is just because we speak Spanish. But you don't called everybody that speak English, English,, right? People from Spain are called Spaniards, not Spanish, Spanish is just a language. They are rather be called by their Nationality which they are very proud of. Like Mexicans, Argentinians, Peruvians, Venezuelans, Colombians, Panamenians, Nicaraguans, etc. etc. etc. You see, you people like to group us,, and that's something that we don't like or understand because is wrong... Hope you learn something..

It's just confusing - like calling Americans English. Spanish- or English- speaking though, that's fine.

They are not Spanish. Spanish people were born in Spain. A more proper term would be spanish speaking. Should I call myself Spanish because I took spanish in high school and college?

Where do they come from? To me, a Spanish person would be from Spain, a Mexican person would be from Mexico, etc.
