Well, it's really only one light in the house. They sit in front of this tall floor lamp and just stare right through the shade....they look mesmerised by it and they don't move for ages!! Unless they're called for dinner....then they snap out of it and run for it. But we just think this is so strange....they look as though they are having light therapy and suffering from seasonal affective disorder. Has anyone else experienced this bizarre behaviour??? Or are our cats just very strange??

I've had cats for over 30 years and haven't seen this in any of them. You may be right about the need for light in winter, though. If you live in the Northeastern US or anywhere in the North your cats may need extra light to feel contented.

Cats are fascinated by lights for some reason. My daughter had a cat that tried to chase a flashlight beam up the wall. It was so funny. She recently got a kitten and she bought a laser light for him. You can buy these at pets stores and some Wal Marts have them in the pet section. She also bought that DVD that Pamela is talking about. If you want the name of it let me know and I'll ask my daughter.

There use to be a VCR tape just for cars! It had flashing lights mice birds different sounds all the things cats like. I think your cats are very cute and smart. Don't listen to these mean cat haters. I wish I could remember that VCR tape and if it is now on DVD. I'd let you know the name of it. I rented it from blockbuster many years ago and my cats loved it.Give those babies a kiss and a scratch under the chin for me.

My cat watches TV not like watches the movement she has preferences she watches movies but wont watch reality shows I'm serious. Some times cats are just weird i mean my cat plays the wall of death on our hard wood floors. But maybe they are watching the filament or they're sun bathing cause some older bulbs produce a lot of heat.

Our cats used to run to the foot of the stairs, and just stare up them, which was quite scary.
I sometimes think that cats can see things on another plane, which we can't.
