We used to get wild salmon from Alaska sent to us frozen, luckily in sealed packages. You should not put or soak in warm water..it should be put in cold water in container or sink, but not fully covered. Let bottom of package sit in water, then turn so each side sits in the cold water. this is the safest way to defrost without losing any flavor. If it is not in a sealed package...you probably already lost flavor but you can put in airtight baggies and do as listed above.

There are some very good tips here.

I'm lazy. I put it in the oven frozen on 350 for 30 - 45 minutes. I ONLY cook wild salmon and it never loses it's flavor this way.

Is it vacuum sealed? If so, place it in the fridge, if it's not thawed 30 minutes before you need it, place it under cold running water. However, if it's not vacuumed sealed, you have probably already sacrificed flavor, but I'd wrap it in plastic wrap and run under cold water.

Salmon sounds really yummy, I think I know what to make for dinner tomorrow! Thank you!!

Using the defrost setting of your micrwave, set it for power level 30,depending on the wattage of your microwave, thaw for 3-5 minutes, then allow to sit for 2 minutes. If still partly frozen, thaw at 1 minute increments at same power level until it's thawed.

Depending on the size of the piece of salmon(whole fish vs. fillets or steaks) and it's thickness you can try defrosting in the refrigerator and then running under cool running water to break up any remaining ice crystals prior to preparation.

just set it out and when it almost thawed place back in refridgation this shouldnt take long at all if it is a not so large of piece.....i using lay mine in a stainer so the water that is inside the fish is not there for the fish to lay in.....turn it over once while thawing.....you have plenty of time ......enjoy.....if it is a filet i would just broil it in my oven as not to over cook it and lose the flavor...

It should be vaccume sealed, if not, then the flavor has already been sacrificed.

If it is properly vaccume sealed, float it in luke warm water for about 10 min. That's all it will take.

Put soem warm water in your sink (plug it up) and put the slamon in a ziplock bag and lay it in the sink, it will float and just turn it over every now and then so both sides get thawed. Can I come over for dinner? Salmons my favorite! =]
