I think there are a lot of people who feel that way, so you aren't alone. A lot of folks are ashamed of the racist attitudes that others of their race/culture have. Some members of ethnic groups are ashamed because of people in their culture who do live up to negative stereotypes or glorify such people. So if we get down to it, people from all cultures probably have something to be ashamed of.

I guess the cure would be to look at the great things that people of your race/culture/ethnicity have done and focus on those things.

InCogNegro, I love your name and answer!!!!! No one shoild be ashamed of their ethnicity, etc. G-d has a purpose for everyone and everything. Find your reason for being born with your ethnicity. You posted under Community Service- TRY some Community Service work with others of your ethnicity or learn about another group of people. Avail yourself to help others and then maybe you'll realize your true calling in this world. Good Luck!!!, and always love who you are unless there's something that you have the ability to change about yourself if you need to.

Hey, I'm from Long Island, and I'm one kooky bird wherever I'm from.
I've known so many cultures which had their own accents, language, celebrations, styles of clothes...
and being a bland blonde American Brit and Mick didn't really mean anything to me.
So I can speak in just about every accent known to the area (drives the rural folk wild in my new hometown)
and I have no idea who I am.
And that's why
I am an American- NO HYPHEN!!!!!
I read after 9/11 that the hyphen just disappeared for many peopl when we were attacked.
We've forgotten that, haven't we?

I have pride in my race, but it's like all the positive people don't count it's my favorite THUG rappers and the Brothers that don't have a future (and proud of it). That is represented on TV, movies, everywhere. These Stupid people are POP.
The rest of us is to boring.

German and proud of it. Yes I had family in WW2 on both sides(makes the reunion kinda interesting) I love my heritage, however, I'm third generation American. If your fresh of the boat you can use the hyphen after that all you are is American.
